When I lived up north as a kid we used to play outside at dusk by throwing a ball up in the air and watching the bats dive bomb it. They get close to you, but never hit anyone that I saw. Nothing to worry about.
Now that I live in the Keys, I have to worry about these guys: giant blue land crabs. Certain times of the year they are EVERYWHERE. When I run before it's light they get freaked out and run across the path in front of me, claw outstretched as they go by. As many times as it has happened, it still scares the daylights out of me. I never thought I was much of a hurdler, but believe me, I manage when prompted!
Also, if you run over one on your bike, it's a guaranteed flat.
Too funny...I seen coyotes, foxes, rabbits, deer, owls, and skunks but never thought about land crabs. Put a smile on my face thinking about you hurdling them. |
