SANS wetsuit! Last one of the year for me - IMMT in 11 days and counting..... so I figured what the &^&$# let's go without the suit. It was fine - clearly I'm used to the buoyancy crutch as I took in a little water **coughcough** but all in all ok. Whatever time I lost on the swim I gained in transition not taking my wetsuit off.

URGH this course is the bane of my existence. I can't get my times down to where they were last year but I think most people are feeling that too. This was on of my fastest laps this season but I still would have liked to go sub 25 just once!

Every week I get passed by the same people - it's just a matter of WHEN. Wellllllll not this week. Apparently I got myself a good enough bike cushion that I held off a few people. TWO of the people that usually pass me early only beat me in total by 40 seconds and 3 seconds. And I even beat the third by 13 seconds! WOOT (sorry Stacey :) )

Event comments:

It was a good end to the off road tri season. Not sure I'll be back next year because mentally it's a big commitment while training for other things. <-- I said that last year.

Holy blazing fast T1!  Congrats on going sans wetsuit, good mental challenge if nothing else, plus look at all the time you saved by not having to take it off!  Heh, the bike course is ever changing this year with wood chips and sand and having to deal with both, so keep that in mind before you get too down on yourself.  Good race leading up to the main attraction, the feature event in Canada!

Great job on trying the swim au naturel (mostly) and having a great T1. I agree with Mel, you can't fault yourself for their zany bike course actions. Nice job on the run!!!!

Congrats, and Canada look out!!!

ok ok - I gotta fess up. Putting my bike shoes on happens at the beach before I get to the swim/t1 mat. if you look at the swim data you'll see the ugly run from the beach to transition.

t2 is legit though!

oh also leaving t1, I always open up the back of my helmet so I just throw it on and buckle the chin strap. Then once I'm out on the course pedaling I reach in the back and lock it down. That saves me a few seconds too.

I own both a road bike and a tri bike. I am wondering which bike I should be riding during off season training, or does it matter?
