Pre-race routine:

Hour drive, peanut butter and bagel for breakfast.
Event warmup:

Light swim to check out the water.
  • 19m
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards

Super easy to sight. Keep tight to the rope/buoy line and barely had to sight, only had to come up to dodge around people at times.
Transition 1
  • 03m

A little bit of an uphill run to T1, actually got my wetsuit off in a decent amount of time.
  • 1h 06m
  • 20 miles
  • 18.18 mile/hr

Nice bike course. Roads were in good shape, just enough up and downs to keep you interested. Effort level was easy spin with a few pushes here and there.
Transition 2
  • 02m

All good.
  • 32m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 19s  min/mile

Jogged at one speed, just participating.

Event comments:

A gem of a local sprint. Well organized, nice course, good music and an announcer at the finish belting out everybodys name as they crossed the finish line. My new favorite sprint in Central Wisconsin, can't believe we've never done this one before.

I got about a minute into it and, despite bracing myself against it for months, I panicked. I could not get my breath. I said, "I can't do this, I can't do this."
