Comments:

Swimming for me is just an obstacle before the race starts....
What would you do differently?:

I haven't swam sense my last race a few weeks ago..... so with that being said I would swim more
Transition 1
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

The run from the water to bike is really short... The transition area was really crowded next time I should be there by 5am
What would you do differently?:

This is the last race of the year.... next year my goal will be to have my shoes clipped into my pedals
Bike
  • 51m 36s
  • 17.5 miles
  • 20.35 mile/hr
Comments:

I wasn't looking forward to racing on wet roads so I made the best out of the situation.... The number one goal NO CRASHING.... goal accomplished!!!... The route for this race is extremely hilly with rough roads, sharp corners.

Everything started out fine passing fast swimmers :-) left-n-right.... Every intersection had either a cop or a volunteer directing us which is fine BUT the people directing us didn't give me a warm-n-cozy feeling because they were not being vocal enough (I know it's my response ability to know the course but come on!!!) I would approach an intersection and at the last second they would point me down the right road....

Pedaling a long I noticed that the route seemed wrong from the last time I was on the course (I had ridden the course once before) sure enough they had directed me down the wrong course... I was on the long course!!! (totally my fault cause I wasn't paying attention)

In the end I would find out that I wasn't alone... some folks doing the long ended up doing the short and some doing the short ended up doing the long

What would you do differently?:

I would know the course better
Transition 2
  • 00m 49s
Comments:

I had a good transition location so it seemed fast
What would you do differently?:

Next year will be the "Riding with feet on top of shoes"
Run
  • 27m 3s
  • 3.36 miles
  • 08m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

At this point knowing the mistake on the bike I almost said FORGET IT!!! I wanna DNF..... But figured I needed the miles for the September Challange... Running along I saw my good buddy Speedball (aka Tucker) then I saw IKENTRI on his last mile of the run (great) then I saw my nemesis and good friend Kpallen (aka Kevin)

Seeing Kevin tracking me down made me start sprinting with about 1.4 miles remaining (Thanks Kev your the greatest)
What would you do differently?:

I will do some speedwork before next race season

Well done making the most of a bad situation. Much better to get a duff time for doing the wrong course than getting a DNF.

No your not paranoid, the fast swimmers/slow cyclists really are out to get you.

good race finish > DNF.  Even if it takes you to DFL.  Keep up the good work with the training and all for the month.  Sad to hear about the rough course help

Good job on the race...even with the mid-race switch to the long course.  Too bad about that.  I talked w/ a friend that did this race and he had the same thing happen....

I bet 30% of the the entire short coursers (and duathletes like me) went on or got sent down the wrong course.  Arrgh.

That is right, pickles don't EVER give up!!!
Nice job and I love that you have an arch nemesis!
I don't know mine, she has my same name and runs all the Disney races so I usually end up with her certificate instead of my own!
