Good morning BT!

4:30am:  1:35 on the bike main set:  8X2:00 @ Z3 followed by 3X8:00 @ Z3.  My legs are starting to scream for taper week...but have three more bigger sessions to go. 10 days!

Last night:  :50 minutes OWS at Blue...still windy and cold but I had to get it in.  And yes, there were naked cannonballs! Karen, if you're ever out my way you are welcome to join me!

Michael...holy just casually 'I signed up for IM Chattanooga!'

Steve that would be cool if your wife joined in training!  My hubby was perfectly happy to be sherpa/photographer and now he's more than happy to give me a kiss, wish me luck, and send me on my way! He has done his time waiting around at races!

Have a great day all!

I would probably freeze to death before I hit the water! It would be a naked icicle cannonball. My parents are supposedly moving to Boise. Is that any closer to where you are? (Actually, have never actually figured out where you are!)

6 AM: 3200m of swimming. One of my current students was actually in the lane next to me, swimming with the kids' club. Both of our workouts were so hard that we never ended up saying anything to each other, just sharing desperate looks on short rest intervals!

5 PM: Easy 45 minute run around school fields after work.

Off to bed.....up early for a trainer ride!

Good afternoon! The fact she will even consider triathlon is huge. I'm playing it cool so as not to scare her off. She didn't out and say it, but I think she's getting a bit bored of just running (I did too, which led me to tri).

Just got back from my swim, and am officially on the downhill to my race on Sunday. Forecast high of 62. Perfect.

11:45 - 1,700 yards, with speed intervals. Also tried some flipturns for the first time. I'm not very good at them, but didn't get water up my nose, so I'll take that as a win.

Have a great one!

Another late night workout for me, 1 hour + on the trainer after a long work day.

I'm impressed by you morning folks, have tried so many times to workout early but the night owl in me wins

If you force yourself for about a week, a couple of things will happen--

1. Your...er...."system" will demand that you wake up at 4:XX to take care of business.
2. Any pets you have will become conditioned to being fed and doted on at 4:XX. If they are big and/or loud enough and have access to your bedroom, no alarm is then needed.
3. You will be so tired by 8 PM that your night owl tendencies will fly right out the window.

This from someone who NEVER thought she could get up before 6 AM! The challenge now is getting body and cats to cooperate when I CAN sleep in (rest/recovery days, when I can only train in afternoon due to pool hours, if I'm sick, on vacation, etc.) I thought at first that maybe easy AM workouts might be doable, but actually I can do anything early AM that I can do later, often with better quality than later in the day. I do need 5-10 more minutes of warmup (maybe 20 total) before I can really hit hard efforts, though.

I have a pretty active job (elementary teacher, coach part of the year as well), and thought that would be an issue for recovery after early morning workouts, but actually, I recover much better being active all day than if I do a late day workout and then mainly lie around or go to bed. No difference with swimming, but definitely can feel it with biking and running.
