Comments: I tried to focus on quick cadence and pushing up the hills. No one passed me on the hills and I made some good time there. I had no idea of where I placed until the awards ceremony. When I heard them announce 3rd place Women 40-49 in a time of 28 minutes, I knew I had placed! Wow, but 1st place was a big surprise to me! I got a nice medal and a little jug of maple syrup. What would you do differently?: One woman in a younger age category passed me in a final sprint to the finish. I had passed her on the last hill, so I wish I was able to hold her off. Post race
Warm down: Walk around, cheer our friends, run with my friend Linda for the final 100 yards. Event comments: There was Chili Taste-off after the race which seems like a strange thing to do after running so hard, but it was fun. The chili was good - not too spicy. A high point was seeing our friend C. get 1st place in the his age category. He is in 7th grade (14 years old?) and he was so excited! He let out a WHOOP when they announced he had won his age category! I was 14th of 70 women overall Last updated: 2006-09-24 12:00 AM

I ran with my daughter in a 1-mile Fun Run. They have never run such a long race. My son ran it with my husband in 7:52, while daughter and I ran it in 9:27. I am VERY proud of those two kids!
