Subject: NEW! Body Metrics

Body Metrics is one of the two new things to the logs this month.  This was a request that has been on the table for awhile now.

Simply put, body metrics is just logging the measurements of your body to see changes.  Particularly helpful if you are tracking weight loss and want some other corroboration other than the scale.  OR you may want to gain some weight & muscle and want to see the changes.

You probably don't want to measure yourself any more frequent than weekly/monthly...kinda like using a scale...to get rid of all the daily fluctuations.

Anyways, here are some screenshots.  Go to your log setting screen first to configure your units of measurement.  You access it just like your regular logging, just above 'overall comments'. I just ran some numbers through the system to test and everything looks good.  Let me know if any problems.

ALL members get this logging ability along with calendar, week, month and year reports and a 'Waistline' graph.
Performance Members get all the other graphs too, 9 total.

Cool.  I just came across some measurements from 3 years ago when I was 45 lbs heavier.  I have wanted to remeasure and compare.

Silly question, but where/what/how do you measure for shoulders?

Micawber - 2006-09-27 3:16 PM Silly question, but where/what/how do you measure for shoulders?

I have no idea what you'd measure in terms of inches -- maybe tailoring measurements?

Instead I'd use max pounds for 4-5 reps of overhead or military presses, or take photos in a sleeveless top for a before/after comparison.

This is super, but any way of adding hips into the measurements? That's where us girls really strive to lose our weight and where men hope to gain a bit (sometimes).

Thanks!

Shoulder measurement would be outside circumference.  I don't see it a lot as a standard, usually people measure 'chest' circumference inside armpits (so they don't count shoulders).  Shoulders would be more for bodybuilding to see a change in deltoid growth as a whole.

AHHH!  Hips!  Duh.  We will work that in.  And as far as 'inches/centimeters'  I have no idea.  I just figured we would get an English and Metric unit like everything else.

An article is probably needed with pictures on how to take all these measurements.  The internet at first glance seem full of inaccurate methods.  BUT any method you choose, keep it consistent.  You are most likely not looking for absolute accurate numbers, but consistent and repeatable measurements to see trends (upward or downward)

I am new and I cannot figure out how to get to my logs.  I uploaded a training log, but for the life of me I can't find it now.  Nor can I find any of these other fancy logs I am reading about.  What am I missing?

I see that you did upload a training plan.  See this tutorial to learn how to view and print your plan.

To actually log your training, see this article.
