Pre-race routine:

Ate a banana at home, drove half an hour to race site. Ate a power bar and hydrated. Bike check, body marking, timing chip. Checked bike - a good thing because the chain had come off.
Event warmup:

Ran 4 minutes, biked about 2k, stretching.
Got on the party boat and were taken to the swim start. Jumped off, didn't lose my goggles!
Swim
  • 20m 49s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 47s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

My placing was 5/20!! Surprising since my last race bike leg was the worst of the 3. I guess knowing the course is a big bonus. I still find myself slowing down to avoid drafting at times. There were several people blocking, so that ticked many of us right off!!
What would you do differently?:

Learn what to do if there are many athletes bunched together (eg. on a hill) and you don't want to get a drafting penalty and you can't pass them all!! (good forum question..)
Bike
  • 1h 01m 55s
  • 30 kms
  • 29.07 km/hr
Comments:

see above...I wrote in T1..oops
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

My race number was falling off the pins...arrgh
What would you do differently?:

pin the stupid number on the race belt with 4 pins instead of 2 on top!!
Run
  • 42m 43s
  • 7.2 kms
  • 05m 56s  min/km
Comments:

I felt pretty good, because I didn't kill myself on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

I could always be faster
Post race
Warm down:

Stretch, hydrate, eat the great food that they had!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The run, I guess.

Event comments:

K-Town is a great race. There were athletes of all levels there which was nice to see. I loved it!
