Ryan Hall from Big Bear California set the US Half Marathon Record as well as the course record at the Houston Marathon this past weekend.

He ran his first mile at 4:36 and dropped the field. He ran the rest of the race all by himself.

Definitely a history making performance. (1st American to ever break 1:00 in a Half Marathon)

At age 24, he is likely to have more than a few great finishes ahead.

Good On Ya Ryan for an excellend Performance

That's awesome! I wonder if this is going to be televised? Meb and Brian Sell were racing as well.

I'm running the Carlsbad Half Marathon this weekend, maybe I'll do 4:30 splits as well.

4 minute miles are what I average... on the bike!

At the 15 KM mark, he was 1:43 ahead of Keflezighi, Browne and Bizuneh.

Here is the video:

An absolutely amazing performance. He is also the 20k National Record holder and unofficially beat that time at the 20k mark in Houston.

Very Cool

Ryans brother Chad is super fast too. Just this year he won the Footlocker National Highschool cross country championship. At the Mt. SAC cross country 5k course he beat me by a good 45 seconds.

I wonder if he would race me - I get to start at the half way point and I still bet he would win!!!

It reminds me of Frosh HS track - I ran the 600 as an extra and my time was slower than one of our faster runners doing the 800!!

Well at least in my youth I had no premonitions of greatness on foot. Then I grew to 6'8, played center for thehoops team as was considered relatively quick for my position?!?!?!?!? weird

Frickin' smokin'!!

Most people would be happy to have a 10 mile finish with that time.

Unbelievable performance. The fact that his 10K split was 28:20 stuns me just as much as the final time.

That's freakin' unreal.  I'd probably kill myself if I tried to run a half mile at his half marathon pace.  It looks so easy for him.

What an excellent performance.
After watching him run I totally believe he can do much better in the future.
