Do you enjoy it?  Then why do you insist on testing the limits of marma's patience?  It's not like he's trying to hold down a full time job while he babysits attepmts to add value to this site.

Yeah, we can all have fun.  But why does everyone push his buttons?

Word.

I've often heard it said that in public schools teachers and administators spend 90% of their time managing 10%.. come on.. we don't want to be the 10% do we????

I thought that was customers and support.....

Besides, statistically speaking, there is ALWAYS going to be that 10%.

Am I a part of it?  I think I've only gotten a talking to once.  Other people may not like, but that's their issue.

Generally, I think I'm fairly decent to pretty much everyone.  I don't think I'm overly offensive, at least.

Lara - 2007-01-18 3:59 PM Has anyone else notice that Don and ASA are missing??  Some of our best thinkers and debaters are gone...  There's got to be a reason for that..  CoJ SHOULD be the kind of place they want to come again..

Do you know that there is a cause and effect to what you are proposing here?

If people are goofy in goofy threads, that's one thing.  If they are jacka$$es in threads that are trying to discuss serious issues in an intelligent way that's another and I could see that would chase away people who like to engage in those threads.  I don't think I've seen much of that at all.

And I believe I've seen posts from ASA recently.

Huh.

For the record, I did not post anything offensive today and when I do it's one of three pictures I find hilarious but that could be offensive to some. It was made clear to me recently that one of thise pictures in particular was not to be posted again and I responded with an immediate "ok" without excuse and then with an apology.

It's easy to become dissaccociated from your actions in this type of medium and I'm certainly guilty of doing just that. While I don't know what happened today (was in a meeting), I do feel a measure of responsibility for nudging Marama, but from my perspective it was more good natured than may have been percieved as we've been on the site for some time and I viewed him as another member instead of a moderator and that has not been fair:

Mike, I'm sorry.

It seems to me that COJ has been innundated with Stupidness (i know, i know) lately (I mean, more so than usual), and I really haven't had the time to weed through most of it. I miss having more threads of substance, but, pander to your audience, I suppose.

It's a shame, but these things go in waves.

hey now, i haven't posted a quiz in WEEKS!

i agree w/ what sharkey and chippy have said. all it takes is a little common sense.

Nah. Its actually more like a particle than a wave, although it can share properties of both... call it a wavicle.

I dunno, the election is over, aliens haven't invaded yet, so what of substance are we going to talk about?

I'm not sure, but I'm sure you'll find a way to start threads until we figure it out!

I know I'm just biding my time until we invade Iraq with troupes of girl scouts, cause everyone else in uniform will be comitted elsewhere.

Maybe CoJ should be subdivided:

  • A "Substance" subthread for the more serious of you;
  • An "Adult" subthread for the more offensive of you, and;
  • An "Inanity" subthread for the "Thread Killers."

With the "post count to triathlon" ratios of those who start many of the threads in COJ, you may have to explain that one...
