Alright!  I get to wear RED! Wonder if it will make me faster in the water... Somehow, knowing my start time and wave and all that stuff makes this race suddenly feel a lot more real. This will be my first oly and I wasn't nervous...'til now.

Brick? Ready to race? I'm hoping to just live through it. Here's my race plan:

Swim

Goal: 15 minutes. Test the new stroke under race conditions. I've actually worked pretty hard on my swim these last few months and I'm curious to see what kind of gains I've made. If I can finish in the top 60% on the swim I'll be thrilled. This is a reasonable goal. Swimming in Olys is the one area in which I've consistently improved my AG rank.

Plan: Start in the middle to the outside. If I can get a good warmup in before the start, I'll go out strong for the first 100 yards or so and then settle down, get in the pack and try to find someone to draft off of laterally. The buoys are to the left and I breathe to the right, so that could be tough. It's a short swim though, so a draft isn't crucial. Either way, I'll keep the effort up in the 60-70% range until I'm about 100-150 yards to the end, then I'll back off and cruise in to T1.

Bike

Goal: I'm so under trained on the bike, my only goal here is to live though it. I'm going to enjoy a nice leisurely spin on the Gulf Coast. Seriously, I'm in tourist mode here. If I pass some elderly folks I'll stop to chat, ask if they have any grandchildren, how their health is... If I'm lucky I'll pass a cafe so I can pop in for a latté and biscotti, maybe do some souvenir shopping, take a few pictures... If I'm not DFL on the bike it won't be for lack of trying.

Plan: I'm shooting for a nice toodle. Start in Zone 0 and taper off. See if I can find someone out for a walk to pace me.

Run

Goal: Make up for the bike as much as I reasonably can. Heat will be a factor, so I'll have to keep that in mind.

Plan: Go out strong, don't slow down. By mile 4 I should be questioning my sanity. By mile 5 I should be telling myself that this triathlon crap is not worth this. By the finish I should have lost my will to live and require medical attention. Of course this will depend on how many biscotti I eat on the bike leg.

I think this is going to be a very fun race!

Mrs Fish and i are really looking forward to it, and meeting all of you.

I think I'm in the yellow cap with all the clydes

At least it'll match nicely with the black wetsuit !

8:45? start? I wish that was good for another hour of sleep...

I'm staying solo with my folks on the island, but really looking forward to this - let me know if there is a get together anywhere.
