Run the Reagan
25F / -4C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 35m 26s
Overall Rank = 35/308
Age Group = m35-39
Age Group Rank = 3/35
Pre-race routine:

Drove to the race with friends, shared some boost, use the best pre race restroom ever, then did a quick little sprint from the physicians building to Rivi's ride to test out my legs. Everything was a go.
Event warmup:

Short sprint, then short slow jog to the starting line. Other than that, nothing. It was cold and I didn't exactly feel like doing much out there.
Run
  • 1h 35m 26s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

Run went well. My splits are as follows..

mile 1: 6:49
mile 2: 6:55
mile 3: 7:06.13
mile 4: 7:06.31
mile 5: 7:23
mile 6: 7:20
mile 7: 6:30 (probably a good downhill)
mile 8: 7:19
mile 9: 7:26
mile 10: 7:30
mile 11: 6:55 (hit split about 49 seconds too early @10k mile marker)
mile 12: 8:41 (that 49 seconds is added onto this split. ~7:52)
mile 13.1 8:10 (additional .1 included)

So, anyway, I'm about where I expected I would be. My times are not real consistant, but I have not raced much. I didn't feel as strong as I did at the end of last season, but I still PR'd this race, so all in all, I am happy with my performance and where I am at.

3rd in age group.. I never expected to hit my SSG so early in the season. Although not a tri. Still, 3 of 35 in my age group makes me really happy.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Early season race, good training produced good results. Can't ask for much more than that.
Post race
Warm down:

Waited on friends to finish. Each of them, Kate, Amy, and Rivi, had really good races. They are doing awesome. Big thanks to the big O for coming out and being race support and being kind enough to give me half of her 2 piece winter jacket. It was freezing out there.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing... and I like saying that. No excuses needed.

Event comments:

This is a good race series. The course was a bit on the boring side, but take that away, and the course was perfect. There was a 5k and 10k that integrated into the Half Marathon and that worked out quite well. Had to dodge some walkers, but that was ok.

Way to PR and get an SSG accomplished! You run so fast now... I wish I could keep up! I still remember our runs at Kensington when you'd be a half mile behind me... who would have known you'd be rocking your age group now! Congrats, running man!
