Huntersville, North Carolina
United States
SETUP INC
64F / 18C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 34m 34s
Overall Rank = 418/477
Age Group = Masters Novice
Age Group Rank = 12/15
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 13m 43s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Breastroked 8.5/10 laps.

No real problems but breastroking that much tired out legs and probably had a big impact on other 2 events.

Had pre-swim jitters but as soon as buzzer went off no problem.
What would you do differently?:

Train more, get technique down so I could actualy swim most/all of event free instead of breast.

Transition 1
  • 03m 28s
Comments:

Rested a lot, a bit disorganized even though area was "organized"...lol.

Consumed gel pak/water.
What would you do differently?:

Speed up !

Using 5 gal bucket was good idea....great for carrrying AND sitting.
Bike
  • 44m 50s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 16.63 mile/hr
Comments:

No real issues here too. Realized I wasn't as fast as on the bricks pretty early on.

Uneventful and desolate.
What would you do differently?:

Swim better !

More riding.
Transition 2
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

This was much closer to what an actual transition should be.

What would you do differently?:

IF YOU BUY A RACE BELT...USE IT !!! ...lol

Only big rookie mistake was forgetting race belt/bib #...cost me 1:00

Run
  • 30m 7s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

don't really care for this...run down steep hill, run along road, then up steep gravel hill and back...twice..then .8 mile to finish.

Actually had to walk part of the run going up gravel hill 2nd time. Walked about 45 secs.
What would you do differently?:

swim more.
Post race
Warm down:

none

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swimming breastroke.

Event comments:

First triathlon.................. at least I finished !!

Can't consider it a disappointment when it's first time but I know I can go a lot faster.

Overall I had a ball.

The last line of your RR says it all!  That's what it's all about (for most of us, anyway).
