Run
Comments: Started out just off the pace of the lead group. Was worried I was once again starting out too fast in a short race, but hit the mile in 6:19, which was just about spot on my 6:20 target. At this point I moved ahead of a couple high school runners and settled into 4th place, but well off the lead group who were running together. The second mile was a bit hillier than I expected and I clocked a 6:28. Into the 3rd mile, I was still well back of 2nd & 3rd (1st had moved out from them at the half-way point) and there was nobody near me in the rear so it was a bit hard to push myself. But I tried to remind myself my goal was to break 20:00, place was not a concern. Once I was into the final 1/4 mile I was pretty sure I was going to make it, but it wasn't until I closed in on the finish that I realized I had cleared it easily. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Jogged back to my Dad and the kids and then walked back to the finish are to cheer in my wife and Mom. What limited your ability to perform faster: No speed work and a long bike/run yesterday. Event comments: A very nicely organized local 5k race for a good cause. We'll be back at this one. Woke up, went to Church early and then met my parents at registration. My wife and my Mom were planning on running. But my Dad the trip too, which meant I would be able to run today. :-)
Jogged around for 5-10' to try to loosen up.
