Run
Comments: I started this race in OK shape. My muscles were slow twichting from the 35 mountain bike ride I'd done on Saturday. I had leg cramps at the end of that one and tried to rest on Sunday but don't think I had enough recovery time. But my first mile was faster than I'd ever ran 11:28 I think. I ran to three mile mark and felt good. But the fourth mile I started getting hot and tire. By mile 5 I had ran out of gas and began to walk a bit. I think I was overhydrating. My stomach starting churning and burning. And I had horrible burping problems. What would you do differently?: Not drink so much. Eat more. Bring gels. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and hung out with fellow Compassion workers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Um no speed work. And difficulty with the length. Event comments: This was a really fun race. Even with 50,000+ people in it I didn't feel overwhelmed at all. They had bands at each mile marker so that kept you going. People were out with their water hoses spraying you. It was HOT, HOT, HOT. I think it got up to 86 degrees. But beautiful. The best part of the race was the end. After running 6 miles and just tired to the bone you run up into Folsom stadium where the CU Buffs play and you run one lap around the field while thousands of scraming people in the stands. It was like you were an Olympian. So cool. Will definitely do this race next year. Last updated: 2007-05-09 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4 a.m. ate cereal and left the house. Drank some Gatorade and drove to Boulder. Got there it was a zoo. So many people. Parked in the Safeway parking lot and walked the two miles to the start. Which was a bigger zoo. Lots of people. I have never seen so many waves of people. There were something like 100 waves or something.
Walked to the race start. Wanted to get in a run warm up but didn't get it in.
