Post race
Warm down:

Mingled and chatted. Met up with leapdog and mndiver and talked about the summer ahead of us....LOTS OF WORK TO DO IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Did I mention that I suck at swimming?

Event comments:

This was my first sprint ever. These races are just too short to give up a weekend of Ironman training, but its cool to be able to hammer knowing that its so short.

I entered the elite wave, so I have no clue what my age group placings were for each leg (results gave overall AG place only)

Nice race venue..just hope the swimmer's itch doesn't hit me in the next couple of days.

Smokin' run!  I'm happy to give you some of my swim speed for your run speed!  Looks like it was a sprint with a long swim.

Great Bike and Run!  We all have to have our limiter...now get your AZZ in the pool!   I hear ya on the sprint race vs. long workout debate.  While it is really fun to race, somethings are better left undone when you have tons of volume to get in.  Again, Great Job

Somehow, that doesn't suprise me one bit!!   Was the swim windy/wavy or just longer than advertised?

Conditions weren't bad at all.  Most people commented that the swim wasn't measured correctly - it was longer than advertised.  I'm slow, but I'm not 2:23/100 slow.

I started getting some pretty good sized waves around the turn-around point, I don't know if it was boat traffic or what it was.  As far as distance goes heres what I did.  I checked out Curt Woods swim time for the Olympic length swim in Buffalo.  He averaged 1:08's, fastest out of the water in front of Chris Leigh.  Yesterday at a .5 mile swim he averaged 1:34's.  You think they might have measured wrong?

I think Curt must have had an off day!   That always sucks when they can't measure the swim correctly...you would think that a race like Manitou would be a little more organized and use GPS to make the swim dead on, plus, wasn't it supposed to be a national qualifier or something?

I think that was why I was so annoyed with it.  They were very adament about being USAT sanctioned and everything had to be just by the rules.  Everything was going to be enforced very closely, etc, etc.

Nice job, Birkie! That 5K pace is incredible, especially considering it was immediately following a fast bike. As guy who is just trying to get into the 20's on my bike and break 8 min mi on my run, I envy you.

This is quite possibly the best race report ever!  I especially like your bike comments - "Hammered".  What to do different - "Get Carbon TT bike".  Classic.

Nice job on the run.  Freakin fast for sure!  Way to light em up.

Wow, what an outstanding race! 5:35/mile?? I only cover slightly more than a half mile in that time. Good luck with the master's swim and congratulations again!
