Hey everybody!
The official start of the "Brand New You" thread is June 22nd, so if you're seeing this before that Friday, you get a head start!
List your basic info, weight, and goal weight, along with any pertinent personal info and we'll check back every Friday to see how everyone is doing! Check in throughout the week too with any words of support and encouragement as we all shoot for our goals!

Braden: Starting weight-211 lbs
July 27th goal weight-200 lbs
I'm 25 (26 on July 3rd) and I've been active my whole life until I got a sales management position which dictated a lot of time in a chair in front of a computer. I started working out in May of last year, and went from 255 lbs. down to 195. I got discouraged when I plateaued in November, and got out of the routine of healthy eating and activity, hence the balloon to 211.
I quit the sales job, started my own company and now I'm ready to feel good again!

Good luck everybody!

Thanks for getting this started!

I'm Pattie and I currently weigh 162. Two years ago I started exercising and went from 190 to 148. I held that for about a year ago, but last year after we moved from MD to MN, I started gaining again. No excuses, but I need to get back on track. My main problem is eating; I eat way too much. Portion size and eating the right foods are my biggest challenge.

I'm turning 40 this September and I *will* reach my goal weight of 145 by then. I'm a teacher so I have some time off right now to get this project done. I also have 3 horses that I don't ride enough and a husband that I can exercise with. He is a swimmer and he is very fast on the bike. Guess that's about it.

Start weight- 162
Goal for 27 July- 155

I'm up and game.

I managed to gain 10 lbs while training for the Indy mini-marathon this spring. I've since lost around 4 but need to lose that and more (something about my wedding in August )

I'm interested!

Jen: Starting weight:  178 ;bs
Goal weight (July 27th): 165 lbs

I'm 25 (but also turn 26 during the challenge on July 22).  I've been tri training for about two years.  I had some good luck losing weight last year and was even down to about 150 about 15 months ago.  Then I developed hypothyroidism and gained a lot of weight.  I'm getting it treated now and working out the kinks with my medication, but I think  I can start losing weight if I get serious about it.

Josh - I'll join a group despite my "not in a group" thread.  I've included in bold below my interim goals for this group, as well as my longer term goals.

My one suggestion would be to make the group longer than a month... a month is not that much time... have a bad week and you've blown it kind of thing.  Maybe a "brand new you in 90" (but I defer to the OPs and the group's wishes).

Starting weight (in March) - 228.6

Current weight - 209

Goal weight (end of July) - 200

Goal weight (September 16 race) - 190

Goal weight (January 1, 2008) - 180

Oooh, I wanna play! I had been doing really good until the past two weeks when I started eating anything and everything and my weight jumped up by about 6 pounds. I need some accountability to get rid of those pesky last 10 pounds for good!

Starting Weight: 148.6
July 27th goal - 143
Ultimate goal - 138 by September 1

I'm 36 and started triathlons in 2004 at a weight of 166. My highest weight was 216 and my lowest (since being an adult) was 141. I am 5'8". Trying to stop being a yo yo.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for getting this started. I've been working out for the past 7-8 weeks, on and off with moderate intensity. It's seen my bf drop by a few %, I'm feeling good to take on some good challenges. I'm going to run a 3.5mile in 3 months...my goal is to do that in under 30 min, stretch goal 25 min

starting weight: 189lbs, 24%
jul 27th goal weight: 179lbs, 20%
ultimate goal: 165lbs, 14%...more than the numbers it is to feel good about my body and have a high energy level through out the day.

I'm 32, single and ready to mingle I have a stressful job (don't we all), and also go to school which leaves me with little time usually to make a big push like this. I'm using the time off from school to make a significant change in my life.

Good luck to everyone!

I would love to get in on this.
I just started the Michael Pate's Total Sprint training program yesterday so am really new to this. I used to swim a lot when I was younger and did survival swiming and could make floaties out of my PJ's. Also could swim a mile in 30 mins which included several deep dive and bottom swims.
Unsure of if I wil actually sign up to do a tri or not but the training will help me to get in shape.

Start weight - 152lbs
End weight - 142lbs (10 lbs would be fantastic but as I am just starting out it could be less - I'd be happy with 5lbs)

I seriously need to clean up my diet also so will be working on that too!

Good luck everyone

Hi everybody-I am in a mentoring group, too, but I need some additional focus on weight loss to keep me in line!

I am married have two young boys, 4 1/2 yrs and 20 months. . . and after each one was born I had PPD and managed to pile on the weight. . . leaving me a year ago at 228 pounds. I have been working out and doing weight watchers, and have now lost 47 pounds, putting me at 183 and 5'9". Now, that may sound high to some of you, but to me I feel super light! I am in a smaller pants size than I can ever recall I am very muscular as a result of high school and college sports (b-ball, v-ball, track and field, rowing) and busty as a result of genetics and breast feeding. My lightest weight ever was when I was 15 and had walking pneumonia for three months and was wasting away. When I was admitted to the hospital I still weighed 145. So, I carry a lot of weight--my bones must be super heavy, too . I think I would like to weigh about 165 at this point, or less if my body goes there on its own. I think about a pound a week is a good goal for now.

I am not doing WW any more, as I think I am ok on my own. . . and am training a lot more, which is making my body reshape itself. I'm a young 38, heading to my 20-yr reunion in a couple of months, and I'd love to make a great impression there. But mostly I am looking forward to feeling fit, healthy, and enjoying life in the body I have while competing in my first 3 triathlons. I was raised around triathlons but have not done my own. Looking forward to it!

Oh yeah, my name is Leslie.....

I'm 35 TODAY, lost a lot of weight last year (2006), dropping from a high of 197 to a low of 151, but I've obviously put 10 or so pounds back on since last summer, and I don't like it. I'll be thrilled when I drop below 150, because I don't think I've been that weight since high school.

So this challenge starts tomorrow.  Braden, I'm assuming you've signed up for the honors of posting all our results in a nice table each week   Also, any thoughts from you or others on making this a longer event ( "new you in 90" was my humble suggestion).

Best of luck everyone!!!!!!!!!

Ok. I'll jump in now since this starts tomorrow. I usually run away from this kind of thing, but since you're all trifolk I'll give it a shot.

My focus is more on being healthier than losing weight but I do want to lose lbs. I did my first sprint tri in 2005 and 2006 was a total mess as far as exercise. I moved to a new place where everyone drives and have not had good luck getting a routine going. Every time I started something I did too much, too fast, had to stop and lost momentum. The thought of doing another sprint tri popped into my head a few weeks ago so I picked one and started training on June 11th. I think setting training/racing goals is the one thing that will keep me on track. I've already noticed myself eating better in the last week and a half.

Now for those stats:
Current weight (as of last Monday): 182, which was less than I feared.
Current waist is 36"
Goal weight 143, but I don't have a time limit on that.
Goal waist 30.
All of this puts me at a women's size 12-14. Eventually I want to wear an 8 again, which I did briefly 6-7 years ago.
I honestly don't know what a realistic weight loss goal is for 1 month, but I'll keep reporting as we go along. Five pounds would be nice. Really, I think I'll have a goal of fitting into those hot jeans I bought on a whim last month. That would feel great no matter what that pesky scale says!

I want to play too

Starting weight (On Jan 7th 2006): 229

Current weight: 199.6lbs (finally made it to ONEderland )

Goal weight (July 27th): 193

Ultimate Goal: 159lbs (not date set for that

I have been loosing slow but steady since January so I am setting a realistic goal for myself which is 6lbs or 1.5lbs a week.

I need some motivation so I want to play too:

Kathy
Starting Weight 4/21/03:253
Current Weight:167
Goal Weight:145-153, lose 100 then decide?
July 27th Goal: 163/164

I've been at this a long time and lose slowly if I can lose 3-4 pounds I'll be stoked. I have 5 kids, this is my 4th year doing triathlons; I'm supposed to do my first HIM in September but was in a bike race crash June 9th and have some recovering to do; When depressed/stressed I tend to eat as I don't smoke, drink or do other bad stuff...with this injury I'm feeling very stressed..more than normal. 2 of our kids just graduated HS and are starting college. When I got back from doing St. A's I found the company I was contracting at replaced me so I'm looking for something new. Working out feels so good and is like therapy I'm limited in how much I can do and for modified amounts of time.

I gained 3-4 pounds since end of April which is not acceptable to me and I need motivation to eat cleaner. I do track what I eat via Calorie King...seems the more I think of eating healthy and trying to cut calories I do worse.

I joined the fun world of triathlons last year but have yet to do my first this year. I would love to tri an Olympic but frankly the swim scares me. I am building up my distance and hoping to do one by the end of the year.

Braden, not to steal your thunder at all, but you haven't checked in and I wanted to get this going (thanks for motivating me).  Here's what I have so far from everyone... feel free to let me know if you would like to ammend your goals for the official chart.  All you need to do is weigh in every friday and I will update my spreadsheet and post here (just post your current weight... I've set everything up to do all the calculations for you).

For starters, I'd suggest we all pick together a final *end of challenge* date so that we can bring this thing to a conclusion at some point.  As you'll see in the chart below we have various dates from 7/27 to 9/23.  Not to sound like a broken record... but 90 days is both alliterative (new you in ninety) and gives us time to accomplish something.  90 days from today is September 20th.  So if you need prompting, give me a new goal for September 20th.

Josh, thanks for moving ahead on this. I was just making up a list when I realized you already did! I think 90 days sounds great...it's plenty of time to make changes in old habits, introduce new ones, and tweak things to see what works best. Not to mention it takes a while for the new and improved habits to show up on the scale. Sept 20, it is.

Hello all - here are my stats as of today.  224.5 33% BF   My goal by the July 27 date is 214 and 195 by the 90 day mark.  Please chart my progress and goals as you see fit.

I am 39 and have not been under 200 in about 9 years and I would love to be at my athletic weight of 180 (which I have not seen in about 15 years)  My main issue is overeating.. the portion sizes that I eat are large.  I just returned from Denmark - and although I ate constantly - I lost 4 lbs..this was due to the portion sizes as well as the fact that I did not eat any fast food....everything was meat, fish, potatos and cheese. If I just eat like I did there, I will have no problem losing the weight.  (There is something to be said for open faced sandwiches).     Scott.

I'm currently at 250, and I'll set a goal of 235 for myself by three months from now. I've been racing since 2002. When I started, I was close to 290, got myself down to 240, but kind of stayed around there, except for the past six months, when I was up over 260. I didn't race last summer because of a torn rotator cuff, and by the time I recovered from the surgery I hadn't trained in about 9 months, all the while not watching what I was eating. I've since got myself down to my current weight, but want to get down to 200 and even farther eventually. So this is the first step.

Too late to join? If not, I'm game for the Sept 20th end date. Start weight as of today is 205, and my goal by the 20th is 185. I've lost 70lbs over the past year or so, and I'm really looking forward to that scale telling me I weigh 1 something as opposed to the 2 something I've been seeing for a long time now. My husband and I would like another baby, but I refuse until I can get my body back (and until I have a couple tri's under my belt!)
