  1. "The Maltese Falcon", the definitive detective movie, starring Humphrey Bogart.
  2. "Casablanca", love, war, murder, Ingrid Bergman ... what else do you need, another great Humphrey Bogart pic.
  3. "Pane e Tulipani", a wonderful Italian flik about an unappreciated housewife who discovers herself.
  4. "Amadeus", gotta love Mozart and poor Salieri trying his damndest to undermine him.  True, Mozart was not really the babbling buffoon depicted in this movie but it is wildly entertaining and a good primer for the beginner classical music enthusiast.
  5. "Il Postino", another wonderful Italian movie with a haunting musical score about a young man who discovers the other side of life.

"Can't not watch" movies that haven't already been listed:

(Although I have to second/third Tombstone. Princess Bride I've almost watched too many times now, but it's always good for a 20 minute spell. Several of the others that are listed are also favorites.)

Miller's Crossing. An early Coen brothers mobster flick. The scene with Albert Finney walking down the street with a gun in his hand... and then "look into your heart" from that guy who's name is completely escaping me (but the character's name is Bernie!). I've stayed up until 4 am when I accidentally stumbled across the beginning of that movie at 1 after a late night, pre-TIVO.

Much Ado About Nothing - the BBC production with Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, and Denzel Washington. Love it.

Love, Actually - I fall for it every time. Such a chick flick. I can even stomach Keira Knightley's jaw for the rest of the cast and the various storylines (although I could have done without the porn star doubles story).

aaah the guilty pleasure movies.... nice call Mine have to be all chick flicks...

Love Actually: Total chick flick, all the wonderful relationship stuff, and mushy falling in love stuff. Plus I love the airport concept and the British humour

Clueless: This was the movie when I was at high school, reminds me of being there... the fashions, some great friends and I SO wanted to be her! At least her fashion and getting the guy

That Thing You Do: Didnt every teenager dream of being a rock star at some time? And living that whole famous life?

Grease: Oh YES! I know all the lyrics word for word for word!! Dont have all the dance moves down but after being in the show a couple of times in high school I think its all a bit messed up in my head.. but whats not to love about this?

Bring It On: I love anything with music, dance, singing and that sort of thing... and we dont have cheerleading at high school so its all a bit of a novelty! Im not sure how many times Ive seen the movie... i will still watch it!

There are a lot more but I think Ive covered what would be my top 5, watched the Holiday again last night and now I want to be Kate Winslet!! Coyote Ugly is another,  Save The Last Dance.... ok will stop but yeah something mindless and chickie is gooooood

I can't believe no one's mentioned Point Break.  So cheesy and cliché, but I love it nonetheless.

I am looking at this thread as more of a guilty pleasure theme and mine would be Aspen Extreme. The skiing scenes are awesome and Finola Hughes makes my pants go crazy.

Aliens, hands down, despite the presence of the child (I love children, but I do not like them in my sci-fi/horror flicks).

Oops, forgot a few:

Mean Girls, always good for a laugh, especially when she tricks the girl into eating weight gaining bars.

Office Space: No body has mentioned this one yet! I love this movie!

For those of us with kids:

Ice Age: Ray Romano, John Legiuzamo, and Denis Leary. Need I say more?

Over the Hedge: "Let's call it Steve." "Oh, great and powerful Steve, what do you want of us?" Too funny!

Secondhand Lions: anytime it's on, I can't resist watching it, even though I own the DVD.

Spongebob Squarepants, the Movie: Sophia loves this one, I'm a truly glad that it is only 90 minutes long!

Any Muppet Movie: My all time favorite is "Muppet Christmas Carol" but the original three are great (The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper and Muppets Take Manhattan).

The Incredibles: Sophia is convinced that Brad looks like Mr. Incredible and I look like Elastigirl. Scary how true that is! We really do look like them!

Okay, I am done now.
