You might be surprised at how many minority ones there are too. They are just to scared to come out of THAT closet.

Exactly...

What I want to know is, why aren't there more Canadian Republicans? Why does the party seem closed to our northern friends.

Well, it is kind of a blue-collar country.

They all live in Alberta. They have ten gallon hats and belt buckles the size of Rhode Island. Our current prime minister is so rightwing he'd make Rush Limbaugh blanch.

On the other hand, the guy has to govern a country of people that is much more diverse, as a whole than the US. So, you have the nutters who tune their radios to right wing kooks and go to see Benny Hinn every time he's in town (sorry nutters) and you have those Socialist pigs that believe everybody should be unionized and everything should be owned and run by government. These people have a very suspicious admiration for France as well.

"One more point: I don't blame cops for being a bit over cautious; this guy could easily have pulled a knife, then who here would be saying the taser was overkill?"

You're kidding, right? Oh, yeah, he could have easily pulled a gun instead, so they'd be justified to use deadly force, too, by that definition.

My opinion has been solidified by an incident here in Phx yesterday. A police officer was shot and killed when he approached a jaywalker!   Unfortunately, the police don't have the ability to know which people are the nuts with guns and which are just harmless pranksters.

"Police say Erfle, 33, and Officer Rob Rodarme were patrolling in a two-man car around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when they saw three people jaywalking across 24th Street near Pinchot Avenue, interfering with traffic.

The two officers stopped the three, a man and two women, on Pinchot to talk to them and asked for identification. Police rarely issue citations for jaywalking, telling people instead to just cross at a safer spot in the future, Tranter said.

The man didn't have identification but gave officers a name and birth date that Erfle ran through a police computer. That search turned up a misdemeanor warrant for shoplifting out of Tucson.

Police would later find out the man hadn't given his real name. Martinez likely used an alias because he was trying to hide the fact he had felony warrants for aggravated assault and false imprisonment, stemming from a 2006 domestic-violence incident.

But the officers didn't know any of that and tried to arrest him on the misdemeanor warrant.

That's when Martinez shoved Erfle to the ground, pulled a gun and fired multiple times. Police said it all happened in a matter of seconds.

"There was three shots, and there was a pause, and then one more shot," said Bob Newnum, who lives nearby.

Rodarme ran after the fleeing suspect but couldn't return fire because the area was too crowded, Tranter said."

And anyway, the correct quote is "Don't tase me, Bro!!"

Surely to go down in the annals of such quotable quotes as "if it don't fit, you must acquit" or "I did not have sex with that woman"

Florida students are now marching to demand (among other things) that campus police be taser -free.  Why would anyone in their right mind demand that a poilice force not have access to less than lethal force?

Because they plan on eventually having conflicts with said police force?

I'm late to this conversation but not to the story. This guy SO deserved what he got.

Free speech? Did you see the full clip? He was resisting arrest.

Some people need to grow up and actually take responsibility for their actions.
