My cyclocomputer says I hit 68.3mph yesterday during my race!  Now I know based on my time that I was going anywhere near 68 or I would have won.

Anyone ever have such a crazy reading?  I think I must have gotten a double reading from some of the people I passed since my milage was high as well.

Prior to that my high was just over 38mph (road) for the past 300 miles and 33.4mph (mountain bike). Don't have any record of what i might have done before that.

You want nuts? How about a nose-wheelie at 60mph?

Need to revise.   50.7 mph today coming down Millers hills.  I don't think pedaling would have made me any faster.  Poor M-daddy had a wobble and couldn't let go.

That hill is A-MA-ZING.  If you want to really let go, ride the Highlander Cycle Tour

www.highlandercycletour.com

You'll PR your speed in no time.  The hills are just bananas.  Even without a wobble.

Think I would need to buy another gear for the 100 highlander.  Would been nice to have ya there today.

I train on a mountain in east Tennessee were I always hit 45mph for 2.5 miles. That long in the drop part of the bars and your arms are cramping from the death grip. I've seen 51mph for about 5 seconds on a hill in the 2 county Metric 100 bike ride in Murfreesboro, TN.

45 mph during my race at lake arrowhead, CA on Saturday. I then hit my brakes to slow for a turn, and proceeded to fishtail. AHHHH. Pulled it together, after a dangerous swerve. I thought I knew how to handle a bike. Guess what, I don't.

I have a wireless bike computer that always gives me crazy max speeds. According to the computer I have done over 90 kph. For my true max speed I usually glance down at the readout when I feel I am getting too fast.

I too have survived the descent down "Suicide Hill" during April's MS150, right outside of Bastrop Texas. I only made that speed because I pedaled all the way down in the big ring (it felt weird just balancing - spinning, even when my gears ran out - gave me the illusion of stability).

Yes - the beauty of being a clydesdale on a downhill descent.

Under my own power, I've never gotten above 28MPH, even on a mad sprint on the flats.

54.6 mph - not on the aero bars and brake slightly on. Very steep long hill, actually passed vehicles on the roadway. Pretty scary.

40.1 mph in my last tri. it wasn't a steep hill, but i was coasting trying to save my legs and the speedo read 35 or 36, so i figured i'd try and get 40. i think if i had been pedaling hard at the top, i could have hit 44 or 45. next year i'll find out.

I live in Fort Worth Texas - pretty flat. However there is an over pass not too far from my house that I venture to take once in a while. I have been up to 45 mph before I run out of hill. Tell you what, my slowest speed is on the way back up that monster. Granny gear all the way at a blistering pace of 5 mph. I probably would have done better to get off and run up the thing!

38.7 mph on aerobars yesterday, but I put the breaks on, cause I was afraid of becoming a taco salad on the road.

Last ride my Polar registred a max speed of 124kph (could have something to do with the power lines from the train track running parallell...) :-)

I did go 84kph on the same ride though and that speed is correct.

Hey thats the same hill I hit 49 on last year! I had a truck in front cutting the wind so I wasn't aware I was really going that fast until I looked at my cpu.

If its the turn  I'm thinking of, you have to make a 90 degree right turn at the bottom of the hill? It is a difficult turn, you have to brake early then beacause of the loose pebbles in the road you have to bring the bike more upright at the apex and lean more at the start and finish.

Of course I figured that out after the race :P

Broke my old PR of 43.7 just last Saturday on the BT group ride of the Duke Liver Center course with a 47.2!  I was pedaling for all I was worth and loved every second of it.  I'm going to try to top it during the race on September 10th.

BTW, while reading this thread I started wondering what clown dug up a two year old post.  Then I got to Rickholio.    LMAO, but it didn't surprise me one bit.
