  • Comments: This is my second time doing Columbia (first time in 2007) and I beat my last time by 20 minutes. I'm making progress in my tri career but know I can do much better. The race was fun though the parking was a mess this year. Thanks also to all the volunteers out there, especially BTers Amy, George, Melissa and Tricia.

  • Comments: All in all - I have to be happy with the race. I managed to PR by almost 2 min even though the weather didn't cooperate and my swim wasn't very good overall. I think if I had had a good swim (24' or below) I would have pushed a little harder and my goal might have been within reach. Such is life

  • Comments: This is an amazingly well-organized race with wonderful crowd and volunteer support. If it weren't for the history of terrible weather (and typically colder water temps) I would definitely be signing up to do it every year.

  • Comments: I went into this race thinking it was going to be a B or C race for the year, but I couldn't do that. I wanted at good practice for Eagleman. Pre-race prep, gear, everything. I really wanted to PR, and I really wanted to go under 2:30. With the rain, I didn't know if this was going to happen. With all of the training I've had this year, on dry land, my bike could have been even faster. The run course was great, no sun, and gatorade worked real well. I almost under nourished compared to previous years during the race. I had a Hammer Bar and Diet Coke about 30 mins before the race, 1 shot of Hammer Gel during the bike, and Gatorade Endurance during the run. I usually would have had more gel, and my stomach would have been upset. Legs didn't cramp, I was warm, and mentally I was focused on every aspect of the course. I had a plan, and I executed according to that plan. And I beat my goals. 13th place in my age group out of 197 guys, I'll take it. I also got my 1st Podium ever,

  • Comments: This was over a 15 minute pr on this course for me. i am over the moon about it. the fact that i also got to AG place is even more exciting. it is so gratifying to see this years hard work paying off. ryan and i also placed 2nd in the married couple division. YAY!!!!! it is totally fitting since i would have never even tried this sport without him. all in all, it was a successful race due to how it finished. my mental effort was a little all over the place early on, though. I will used this to grow from. i think i could have been 2-3 minutes faster if the swim had gone "as planned", but i guess every race isn't going to go swimmingly ;). in retrospect, i think i might have gotten more out of this experience because the swim didn't go well. i now know that i have a stong enough bike and run to make up for minor debacles in the swim even in a competitive field. in the future if the contact thing happens to me again, I think i will be less likely to get so dejected. my

  • Comments: Well run race w/ decent goodies and food. The time cards never materialized but they had results up by dinner time so no big deal. I think I would do the race again. It would be a great gauge of progress. Or maybe next I'll give Iron Girl a chance. And as always - thanks for the volunteers and police/EMT/bike staff that keep us safe out there.

  • Comments: So it really was an interesting experiment; could I complete this race with a bare minimum of training? I suppose the answer is yes. I'm happy that I did it, because I always enjoy this race, but I'm not particularly proud of my performance. It's my 5th time doing this race, I finished 30 min slower than last time, 36 min from my PR on the course. I'm quite lucky I didn't injure myself, but I was aware of my limitations this year and didn't push it.

  • Comments: I had a good race, and shaved about 6:30 off of my time from last year. The race is fun, but the weather sucked. Also, they really really need to work on the traffic issues the morning of the race. We left with plenty of time, and still felt a little rushed. I'm sure all of the rain didn't help this year.

  • Comments: Good race, funny doing IM brand, Rev3 brand and Columbia so close, none of them were "perfect" as in everything they promised worked as advertised. Columbia was supposed to hand you a card when you finished with your splits on them, never did that. But they were quick at getting results up. I think they were the most organized of the 3 races. Think I want to do this one again next year to see if I can have a better showing.

  • Comments: Achieved my goal that I set back in January of a Top 10 finish! In these conditions it makes it even sweeter considering I held back on the bike soooooo much. Great to get the 1st race of the year in! Very excited for Eagleman and the rest of the year!

  • Comments: An excellent race. Really well organised - tried to smile at all the volunteers and thank those after the race. Lots of water on the bike and run course. Event delayed by the weather so organisers not at fault and indeed given the amount of rain that came down overnight it was amazing that we got away with only a 15 min delay. This was my first Oly and because I don't run too often due to knee problems it's a really tough run course (I'm very familiar with the bike course so that doesn't seem too bad). Once again I'm pleased with my time, really pleased with myself for being calm enough to change the tube without too much swearing, pleased with not berating the USAT official, and as ever, pleased that I am healthy enough to participate in this sport when so many are unable through injuries, illness or indolence.

  • Comments: delay was do to weather, good choice by the CTA to delay for 15 min to allow for storm to pass
