  • Comments: I think they could have increased the amount of the port-a-potties outside of transition. Once transition closed there was a good 15 minute wait to use one.

  • Comments: There were no aid stations to refill on the bike. While it didn't make a difference to me since I didn't even finish my own water bottle, there were many people that tool a lot longer out there who could have used a refill since it did start to get hot later in the day. Also, by the time I probably could have stomached a beer...they were breaking down the beer tent...much earlier than many racers were finishing!

  • Comments: My first Oly was a success and I really enjoyed it. My husband was awesome at getting me to do this and getting me to the swim. The hurdle of the swim, turns out, wasn't in the water but in my head. My husband saw this but not me. I had to do it myself. I have no doubt that I'll do this distance again and continue to enjoy it. My swim training and swim in races will be totally different now. I might sound like a dope but a mental attitude adjustment really makes a positive difference. Now, if only our kids would believe me when it comes to doing their homework.

  • Comments: Volunteers were great. Bike course direction was well managed. Next year, I'd like to see a graphic of transition on the website....they've been doing this race long enough that they should be able to share the plan regardless of whether transition is in the grass or in the parking lot. I have mixed feelings about this race, and need to do another Olympic distance before I really figure out how I feel about it. I hated the trail run, but that might be mitigated by practice and more appropriate shoes. It was my first OLY and my third tri overall. I quit all endurance sports in mile 12-18 on the bike, but I am over that now. I am proud to have finished. Thanks for reading. Q

  • Comments: I didn't think I had a good race when I finished. With the footing the way it was on the run and the number of people that were passing me on the bike, I thought I just didn't have it today. However, when I got home I looked at my previous results and I realized that I had just gotten a PR by about 12 minutes!!! If I have one complaint about this race is that when I went to pick up my bib and drop off my bike, they did not explain how the transitions would work. I thought I had the perfect rack position picked out, but when we came in from the swim, they made us all run to the back of transition so instead of being able to go right to my bike, I had to run down one isle and then up another to get to my transition area. Had I known what they were doing, I would have picked a totally different transition spot. They really need to explain the flow of the transition area. I had even asked where the in and out was and they never said a word about having to run to the other end before

  • Comments: Well run and much more what I would hope to get from RAM. They had it well staffed, course well marked, Vols at all turns and a couple of cops directing traffic at bigger intersections. Run course got yucky in spots but rain+trail=mud. Went well overall. Massive hydration helpd immensely. Nutrition seemed about right, as did pacing. Just about broke 3 hours and wasnt even trying did not want to really press before Racine.

  • Comments: RAM did a good job with this race. Nice goodie bag with nice bike jersey, organized race and plenty of volunteers. If it wasn't for the mud race course I would rate this race as a 5.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Mentally, and Physically, this was my hardest race ever. I am very proud of myself for never fully giving up, even though, I think I could have pushed harder in certain areas, but to me, I am chalking it all up to it's a learning experience. Not every day is going to be your best, and that's how you grow as an athlete...a very tough day like today really makes you appreciate the good races you have. I know I speak a lot about running these races for my mom, but today, it was 11 years ago that she passed away, and so I was really talking to her on the bike and run, asking her for strength to get through when I just wanted to say screw it....she always loved my strong finishes in races, so I made sure to kick it in to high gear for her!

  • Comments: Well I'll start with the positive comments. 1) The goody bag is great. Got a transition bag...and some other stuff. No T-shirt, which is fine because I have 50 of them. 2) The run is pretty nice. It's on grassy trails in the shade, and the ground is level, and there are just a couple baby hills. There are lots of turns, but if you're running over 6:15/mile they won't slow you down. The gentleness of the run makes this a good race for strong cyclists. 3) You get a spaghetti dinner the night before and a pancake breakfast after the race, so you get quite a bit for your money. Okay, now the negative. Many people won't like me saying this, but out of 19 triathlons I have done in the past 4 years, this is the absolute worst. One main reason: the swim was just terrible. The most ill-conceived thing I've ever experienced. They had this great venue of Lake Geneva, and they wasted it by doing an OUT-AND-BACK swim along the shoreline, 30 feet from shore. 1) Out-and-back

  • Comments: Nice race - good perks. Course is well done, but not closed to traffic - be careful. Run course is good, but would like gel pks at 1 station. Post race isn't fancy, few fruits and chips and drinks. I'm planning on coming back in 2009

  • Comments: I wish they would have had an additional water stop at the turnaround on the run. There was one aid station without gatorade too, when I really needed it. Other than that it was a great race and very well run.

  • Comments: Good race with a fairly nice setting. Unless I missed it there wasn't really a race meeting at all. Pre race check in is kind of a pain having to drive somewhere else besides the going to the course. Furthest road on the bike is in very bad condition. I think it's a WI/IL border road so that's probably why it gets ignored. It's a good race though and I would think I'll do it again.

  • Comments: I switched from the Olympic to the Sprint due to groin injury. Really am glad I did. Hope this helps for Elkhart next week. The timing system was off by 3 minutes.Race distance off... I did all my report based on my watch splits. Award ceremony took forever to start, but then very rapid. They forgot all about Athena/Clydsdale, I want up 3 times and asked about it. They FINALLY did it probably 10-15 minutes after the rest were done. (I wasn't about to let a fellow donkey not get her award!!!) Nice course, fairly well run, save the one busy intersection that had NO ONE stationed at it!

  • Comments: Even though this is an overall fun race that I'd definitely do again, I'd like to see a few things change: Better food...all there was was bananas, chips and pretzels. And water (no gatorade post race). Gatorade (or something like it) at both aid stations on the run, not just one. Add a fluid station to the Oly bike course. Add a timing mat at the beginning of the second lap of the Oly, so splits are available and no cheating (apparently a few people didn't run the second lap, although I can see how it could have been confusing. I was confused). On the plus side, TONS of friendly, knowledgable volunteers, organization was very good, and the locale can't be beat.

  • Comments: This was Running Away Multisport's first year running this race. There were some things definitely to be improved on, but I chalk most of them up to first year experiences. They are a good crew, and put on other successful and enjoyable races, but each venue offers it's own unique challenges. Hopefully they've learned what the ones are for this race, and will carry on the Bigfoot race for years to come. It's a great venue and course, and I'm hoping to do this race plenty more in future years.

  • Comments: I won't ever do this race again. The organization was bad; too few toilets; danger crossing the road after the swim; distances were way off; too few aid stations on the run; post-race snack was hideous.
