  • Comments: they ran out of cups at the last aid station on the run so they were just pouring water out of these big gallons. that was funny, some people opened their mouths and tilted back their heads, others offered their hands. The Venn diagram of TNT peeps and BT peeps made this a very special day.

  • Comments: These BT events just get better and better. The weekend was one big social interrupted on Sunday morning for 3 hours of swimming, biking and running. What an absolute blast. All of the BT'rs I met were incredible people, diverse, individually unique but joined by this crazy sport of triathlon. I only wish we could do this kind of thing more often. • Comments: My goal was to beat my last year's time but I was :26 seconds slower. That wasn't bad since the conditions were much worse. Great race, great time with the BT'ers that were at the parties.

  • Comments: Great race. It's changed a little bit since the last time I was here in 2001. However, the changes were all good. The organization was awesome for the amount of athletes competing. I will be back next year for sure.

  • Comments: All in all, I had a good day. Some tough conditions out there and my lack of experience at this distance and with ocean swimming limited my ability to perform, but I ended up top third in my AG so I cannot complain. I think this is only the beginning...I can only get better, right? Second Oly ever and a PR by about 5 minutes. This race was really about expanding my horizons. Lots of firsts...first time flying with my bike...first ocean open water swim...etc. etc. Good chance to try out some pacing on the bike and see what kind of shape my legs were in. Very good warmup for the season! The RD put on a good show. I was a little upset at the start waves because the latter waves really suffered as the surf kicked up. I think they need a better starting plan so that it's more fair for everyone. And the wave ahead of my wave was full of a LOT of slow swimmers...whose idea was THAT? Let's put the two most competitive swim waves for women right after the slow chicks...brilliant.

  • Comments: This is a great race. The bike and run courses are flat - very flat. The swim was an exception this year - it was very choppy and made life miserable for everyone. Saw tons of faces from last year and a heck of a lot of new ones. If I wasn't drinking so damn much beer, I'd probably remember more of you. LOL! Actually, we got to see lots of cool people. Denise aka BonBonNeaser, my wife, decided to volunteer after she dropped out of the race due to sickness/mono issues. So, she signs up for bike transition area and gets there. They ask her if she's ever done a tri before (she has). She gets assigned to hang with the head freaking ref for the duration of her shift. She proceed to make 2 pros go buy new helmets because they didn't have the appropriate safety rating. She moves one pro's bike because he was being sneaky (putting his #5 bike in the #1 spot). She freaking helps Hunter Kemper pump up his tires, all the while shooting the shit with him. Holy flipping shit. What

  • Comments: Once again, an awesome race, well attended by many from BT. A great start to the season for those of us stuck in the cooler northern parts. Lots of good training, good racing, and good times. Lots of laughing, some great stories, and some even funnier pictures. Met a lot of new faces, saw a lot of familiar ones. Such a wonderful feeling to all be together. Melancholy feeling having to head home afterwards, but there will be many many more races and other opportunities to reconnect with friends. :)

  • Comments: Really enjoyed the race! Will be ready at the computer Dec. 1, 2006, to sign up for next year's. Don't know what happened to the run times though; interesting that some people had only a T2 time of 100+ minutes. Really strange! Definately recommend this triathlon!

  • Comments: A very good race, pre and post! This was my first 'real' triathlon so I don't have much to judge it on, but I had a great time and met some nice people along the way and I enjoyed it.

  • Comments: I liked this race overall - not sure if I'll do it next year or not, but I am considering it. Kirk heard a few people say the ocean was the worst conditions for any St Anthony's race, so I guess if I can do that, I could do it again. Based on this race - I'm not sure if I'm going to do a half-iron this year. I'm going to register for the next couple of olympics on my schedule and see how I feel in July. I don't want to push things too far and not enjoy this sport.

  • Comments: Thanks to all the BTers who made this a great weekend and a great race. Thanks to Jess for organizing the dinner and providing the prophetic 8 ball that confirmed I would complete the swim. It was great meeting everyone. Hated to miss the post race fest but I wasn't feeling well and I was traveling with others who could not stay the extra day. You all made this a memorable occassion and oh yeah it wasn't such a bad race either.

  • Comments: I'm so glad I chose this race as my first. I know chosing an Olympic was perhaps not the best choice, but St Anthony's was a great event and well organized/run. Which made all the difference in the world. I am a Triathlete!

  • Comments: St. Anthony's is a first class, well organized, and awesome event. I will be doing it again next year. This was great fun. At 6pm, all the BT'rs (Wendi-G8RSAX, Mike-G8RLA94, Jeff-JkBostic, Chris-Coredump, Sue-Sue7013 and Renee-RENEE), met up at the Bar on the veranda of the Vinoy Hotel. We sat, drank, and laughed away the night while reliving our races and making fun of Chris (coredump) for getting dinged with a drafting penalty. We were in awe of Sharon's performance (Snikpos) who finished somewhere around 2:35! We talked about a lot of stuff and agreed that none of it should show up on the BT board. Suffice it to say, my legs are sore, my head hurts, but I feel great. Laughter is great medicine. The best memories I'll take home from this race are the times spent with the other BT'rs. Now I realize for certain why this is such a great forum. The people make it what it is. Instead of posting pics here, I'll put them in my album...here's the link: http://www.beginnertria
