  • Comments: I was pretty pleased with my race. I could tell that the 2nd 1/2 of my swim was strong and I was pleasantly shocked at how well I did. The bike was pretty good; the uphills got a little slow but I wanted to make sure I didn't overcook and not have anything left for the run. Although I would have liked to have run faster, I chose the prudent option and stayed at a slower pace that kept the cramps/nausea at bay. I liked having my own H2O so I could use what was on the course to cool me off; that helped a lot. T1 definitely needs some work; since the legs on my wetsuit are short, I'll plan to take off my chip before my wetsuit next time. I also now know that I shouldn't take my usual fish oil supplements on race day. Fish oil and a chocolate chip bagel with peanut butter make for really nasty burps. I was clearly well-hydrated too. My bladder decided that there was no need for control during the run (maybe related to my degenerated disks??) and I kept peeing on myself. There

  • Comments: The organization was a little lacking. The double participants were supposed to have their own section of the transition area, but when I got there it was a free for all. It made it a bit awkward when I had to go back to get ready for the second race because I was in peoples way while they were racing. The bike racks were horrendous, bikes falling everywhere because they couldn't fit all the way in. Mine fell sometime between races and I could hear a rubbing noise all throughout the Olympic distance that wasn't there before. Other than that though I really enjoyed the race. There were plenty of aid stations and directions were good. After the first race there was food and Gatorade for us before the second race started. I would do this race again, I just really hope they fix the bike rack issue and enforce the special transition area next year.

  • Comments: This was the 10th year for the Rattlesnake Tri Series and the experience showed. The Aurora Res. is a GREAT Venue for a Tri, the water was almost clear, the bike course was closed to traffic and the run trails were scenic and fast. I will definitely do a Rattlesnake Tri next year, either the Sprint again or the Olympic.

  • Comments: I still think the race expo is kind of meh for this race, but the food is totally awesome and that really makes up for it. They do have plenty of port-a-potties which are the fancy kind with flushing and also handwash stations, plus the wetsuit strippers are pretty awesome. They had a really high energy aid station on the run sponsored by TriBella that was fun. Also, the crazy back-to-back finisher swag was this awesome black fleece vest!

  • Comments: Rattlesnake Tri people are awesome. There were actual cheerleaders! Volunteer took the time to personally talk me through the whole race when I was suffering newbie jitters. Also, sweet running hat and long-sleeved black shirt for race swag. Plus, guy waiting at finish line with beer!

Awesome shirt too!! Great race, will certainly be back next year!!

  • Comments: I do like this race (when it's not raining like last year). And it is fun to see all my race friends. I really wanted to make sure I have fun at all my races and I am doing that. This is 19 minutes faster than last year, and that includes the fact that the bike was 2 miles shorter this year, so I was about 11 minutes faster this year. I was very happy with my run as last year all my races I kept coming in in about 27-28 minutes. I know I am capable of taking time off all 3 disciplines. I just need to focus and lose the weight over the winter. It was great seeing everyone and I am now looking forward the the Fall Frenzy. Bring it on.

  • Comments: Excellent race. High competition, beer, awards, friends, a band. Kinda cheesy wrist bands at the finish, but the pull over wind breakers were very cool. USAT staff was out there for the Sprint national Championship and that was cool. Great to Meet Mel and Josh again. Very cool of Jen and Matt to volunteer and way cool of Scott and Kenny to come out and watch.

  • Comments: This was the Spring National Championship. I believe the overall male winner had a time of 54 min. There were a lot of guys that were 1:00:00 or better. It was a very fast race and a lot of good racers and a lot of fast bikes. My goal was to break 1:20:00 and I DID IT! My other goal was to get out of the swim and actually run to transition instead of walk. I DID IT! I had a good time! Met some fellow BT'ers, had my son there and a few friends cheering me on. It was a good day. My big toe on my right foot hurts. I'm sure it will for a bit, but I had a great race today!
