  • Comments: Its an early season race so the water was cold and the weather iffy, but the organizers can't control that. Well run overall.

  • Comments: As an event it was well done for still having the small community race vibe. The guys and gals from Racing Underground where doing the timing so that is always a good foundation for a solid event. I didn’t stick around for food this time, but the BBQ and Beer Garden certainly looked top notch. The swim and run courses where great, and while the bike course had it’s faults it was still a good way to kick off memorial day weekend.

  • Comments: My first tri, so its hard to compare. I thought the post race activities, raffles, etc.. could have been a little more organized and the swag was minimal.

  • Comments: The only thing that kinda bothered me was the fact that I wasn't passed by anybody in my age group. I spoke with the guy that took first in my division and found out that he raced elite so he was in an earlier wave. He even thought I had won my age group. Not sure I could have stayed with him on the run since He ran 47 sec/mile faster than me, but in only seems right that I should have at least been given the opportunity to compete in the same wave. If an event is going to have an elite division, shouldn't they keep the awards separate? Anyway, I gave it everything I had

  • Comments: This race was put on by Wendy Mader who is very knowledgeable and willing to help anyone complete a triathlon. She put on a practice swim and transition session the weekend before the race which helped tons with realizing what to expect for the race. It also helped me since it was the first time I was wearing a wetsuit (ever). This was a great race the only downside would have been the temperature of the water. We had a cold spring this year.

  • Comments: This is a good local Northern Colorado race put on by my coach and 2008 womens amateur ironman world champion, Wendy Mader. This is a well run race with just enough for you to leave satisfied.

  • Comments: Having been to other races to support my wife I can compare a little. I think the volunteers were great and plentiful. Sign-in went smoothly. I wish the "goodie" bag was a little more goodie. But, they did give out Tech-Tees which is nicer than the typical cotton T. Also, more port-a-johns at the transition area would have been better. I would say a well put on and organized race. I will be doing it again next year.

  • Comments: This was a good sprint race to get the season started in NOCO. Just look at my ranks in my age group and you can see all the stiff competition came out for this one. The lunch at the finish was great, along with the coffee and lemonade. The rain held off just long enough for us to get back to our cars.

  • Comments: Would have been better if the actual festival wasn't rained out - planned on staying most of the day with the kids, but OH WELL. Anyway, good race, but the bike course needed more volunteers and better warning for that turn onto the bike path. SEVERAL of us almost missed it!

  • Comments: I am super happy with my result for my very first triathlon ever! I trained hard and I am glad I got what I think is a good result. Now all I have to do is train harder and get faster!! There was a lot of distance between the transition and finish area but the finish area had lots of activity going on. I didnt stick around because I wanted to get back to Denver and wash off all the PAM that I sprayed on myself!

  • Comments: I'll do this race again. Big learning day as I had the open water wave swim for the first time; drafting for the first time, and the awful hill climb at the start of the bike. The run went very well, as I passed about forty people that probably passed me on the bike hill. Transitions went pretty well for first race of the year. The brick warmup was also a new and good thing

  • Comments: Overall this race was okay. It was smaller, which was kinda nice, but I expected there to be a lot more people, aid stations and hoped there'd be better food. There were orange slices (yuuuum) but then dry bagel bites. Sorry, but I had cotton mouth enough as it was so the thought of gumming down a dry bagel was gross, lol. BUT!! I got to meet a couple BT'ers and see some friends I hadn't seen in a while. After my parent's left I went back to where they were having the awards and when I checked my official time it dawned on me that I was FOURTH!!! WOW!!! That made my whole day a little bit better :)

  • Comments: Distance bother me I could use a longer bike and would like an accurate 3.1 run, but my family likes going up for this event. The girls loved seeing the Pelicans, the hot air balloons, the water skiers, playing on the beach, playing on the inflatable toys ( and JJ seemed to like that part too he didn't comment on any of it though ;) ) So just for the overall atmosphere we will probably be back. Hey maybe next year I will have kid patrol and my wife will race it?!?!!

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Bigger race than I thought. I guess the number of people had doubled since last year. I originally thought I went pretty slow, but after reviewing the results, it wasn't so bad. We didn't stay for the post-race activities because we had places to go. I gave it an overall "too hard" for me because of the hills. Those kicked my butt.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: There should have been water stations near the tops of the hills - some of the Clydes and Athenas were really having a hard time with the run, and it was hot by then. It was unclear where the post-race stuff was, and there wasn't much fluid available when I finally found the tent. Judging from my experience, I would not return to this race. However, the area is under construction and should be finished by next year. It might be a lot easier to organize when the construction is over. Also, see my run notes regarding the unsuitability of this race as a beginner course.
