  • Comments: Overall a well organized race, i have never seen so many volunteers on a race with the exception of an OnUrMark race. Excellent encouragement for everyone which raises spirits. There were a couple of issues with the race that can be easily improved. 1. Swim caps! There were around 3 or 4 waves with yellow caps which caused confusion for many. Normally you expect to see one or two waves repeated with the same caps but not nearly them all. 2. Free racking!? You set up your area and give yourself just enough room to be considerate of others but sadly others don't return the same consideration. Individual racking spots by race number works well and prevents people taking up more space than is needed. In all though, a good race and good fun.

  • Comments: Police support was great -- they were controlling all intersections and I thanked as many of them as I could. Aid stations on the run course had lots of volunteers (only warm water, which is fine with me, but I'm guessing not everyone like their water that way) and the event actually began on time. When I crossed the finish line, there were only a handful of waters left; pretty sure they ran out and people who finished a few minutes later didn't get any. That's pretty poor planning. Also, I know I'm super picky, but I don't care for grinder sandwiches or pizza after races. They did have some bananas, but that was the only decent option, imo. The beer was okay, but I know that's on me as well...I just haven't found any TX breweries that I care for.

  • Comments: 2nd year doing this race. Both years the weather takes a turn right before race day, resulting in cool/cold weather. I generally like the course. The run and swim are great. The bike course isn't as good as some other races, but that is due to the width of the riding area on the highways.

  • Comments: This was a nice race. I really enjoyed it, but it could have been a bit better organized. We got no information until the day before the race. The walk from the designated parking lot was well over 20 minutes. The timing company failed a lot of people's times, even to where they were calling people's names admitting to giving them the wrong chip. Yes, this race had its faults, but overall I enjoyed it, and I will be back next year.

  • Comments: Races are soley based on time...i wish these chip timing companies would invest in better equipment as much as we invest our time at getting ready for these races.. ...i know im beating this dead horse to death when it comes to timing..its happened to me numerous times and it really sux to work hard and have the times jacked up like they are....

  • Comments: I like this race, and will do it again. I think the other Tri's that occur right around the same time have hurt attendance, which is too bad. Well run, and fun.

  • Comments: Best I've been in, had finisher metals, warm pizza and cold beer, along with long sleeve shirts, coozies and other stuff. You could tell they were in year 19, very organized with lots of volunteers.

  • Comments: I don't need to show up 30 minutes before transition opens. I feel like I would be better at longer distances because I don't feel like I'm "in my groove" until the end of the bike and run. In order to do that though, I need to work on my swim a lot.

  • Comments: I dropped 18 minutes according to my watch, 19 mins according to race officials, Overall persoal race results were good. There is still room for improvement. I dropped 3 minutes from my time from when I left Firethorne to when I got home. Mental preparation was subpar. I visualized each event but failed to link each event to see the big picture. I did not break down each phase enough to transition into the next phase. Prime example was the bike transition: I pushed hard and improved my bike time. The first mile of the run suffered for it. T1 was unorganized. I made an in race decision to wear my Under Armour shirt. This was smart but decision process slowed me down. Leave as few of in race decisions as possible. Considering change to Over 40's out of Clydesdales.

  • Comments: This is a small, community type of triathlon. A lot of first timers, a lot of kids, and a higher percentage of people just trying to finish than what you might find at some of the bigger events. All in all a good, fun, safe race!

  • Comments: I heard someone comment that this race director was "the best" from another participant. I don't think he's bad, but the post-race layout and accommodations had a lot to be desired. Pizzas ran out (I only could find one piece, there were no drinks other than water, beer, and a few specialty sport drinks. It wasn't bad, but it had a lot left to be desired for a "Great" evaluation.

  • Comments: my first sprint i did 7 weeks ago was i freeport with a 500yd swim compared to this one that was a 500m swim.....did that one with about 2 weeks of training mainly running and biking some and did it in 1hr 53min...since then condensed the sprint training plan that had bike emphasis here on BT and shaved off 24min from my time...my goal was to be under 1hr 30min and i beat my goal by 55 sec......felt really good....time to start training for the next one!

Lots of friendly people that reminds me why it is so fun. During the race racers are encouraging and the volunteers are cheering ! Love it ! I will be back for a 3rd year!

  • Comments: A well run race, a little cramped for space due to the small venue, but they pulled it off. One more year here and they plan to move to a new place in '09. Lots of food and drink and fun. Good community support and volunteers will keep this race around in the future.
