How far has your longest run been? I live in KW and remember doing a training run on the day that the 100 milers were coming in. Yikes, some of them were really a mess (as I would be.) My hats off to you. I'll cheer you on if I see you on the run.

DickDime and I are doing the Keys 50 as a training run for Leadville 100 in August. The biggest issue for the Keys race: heat and humidity...I am looking forward to this with fear! LOL. Keep us posted on your training efforts

I have never attempted an Ultra so my training is based on what I've gleaned off the internet. basically around 52 miles a week that includes a long run followed by medium to long run the next day. I am entered for the Palms 100K the 1st of March (see how that works). Any advice from veterans is always welcome.

Yeah I,m doing the Alabama marathon this weekend and the Palms 100K March 1st, getting nervous . The A1A is great and a very fast course.

Yes...I have done the a1a half a bunch. I actually don't like stand alone marathons! Plan is to train through it and use it as a HQTD. Decreasing volume a smidgen this week but not looking for a fast time.....I'm just not in the run shape I'd like to be.....yet!

Good luck in Bama. The Palm 100 shoukd be a good warm up for the keys 100

This will be the 2015 section of the thread I suppose. We have 3 or 4 runners coming to do the 100, depending on if one of the gang heals up in time. 2 of us have done 100, and the other 2 will be joining THE CLUB! Coming from Kentucky and Ohio, we have been training in near Artic conditions, so the heat and humidity will be the real test here. We get plenty of both, but not until June. Very excited to be seeing the Keys one step at a time!! Woot! Woot!

I think quite truly for the first time I 'get it'. It's not just about the fitness. It's not just about the great little endorphin rush as you hit 5, 10, 15 miles...its not just the medal at the end.
