Just curious if anyone had an opinion on how much time difference, if any, a person's stand alone5k time will compare to the 5k portion of a sprint. A minute, 5 minutes?

In my first sprint: about 4 mins but I was not well prepared for the race. In my second sprint: about 1:30 - 2 mins I think you shouldn't be that much slower but a lot depends on your bike/run fitness.
About 30 seconds, but I have also come pretty close to setting 5k PR in a TRI. 5k's seem to be more congested at the start and I found it easier to get a rythm in a Tri.
