Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Last night I saw a stage play of Pride & Prejudice. Mr. Darcy was played by Vincent Kartheiser, who plays Pete Campbell on Mad Men. It was so bizarre, I can't stop thinking about it. I think it was too distracting for a Mad Men fan. I wonder if anyone who saw the play, who didn't know the Campbell character, bought it. Very odd. |

Hard to imagine Kartheiser living up to that. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yeah, while a refined/pretty boy look suits the character (Colin Firth is THE guy for the role) I think Kartheiser strays too closely to "weasely". Also, he is MUCH thinner in real life than I expected him to be. Oh, and Darcy is described as tall. Vinny is not. The woman playing Elizabeth was tiny, so that helped. New user![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So wrong. ![]() Of course, I also refuse to watch the "new" P&P movie (the one with Keira Knightley), due to my overwhelming loyalty to the Colin FIrth version, so I might not be the best person to be commenting on this.. ![]() |

I am a HUGE P&P fan and really do have a hard time picturing anyone but Colin Firth.... Mmm...P&P...I should watch that soon! :D |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mostly off topic, I was just reading an old (April) People magazine and saw that Vincent got engaged to Alexis Bledel! I think I'd like her...and its ironic due to the character she play(ed) on the show! |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() That is the danger of playing your role to well and for to long maybe. We associate a person with a role. Look at the Seinfeld cast. Except for Jerry they all tried to get a series after and were typecast as their characters from Seinfeld. Colin Firth is indeed a handsome man (obligatory no homo) |

Colin Firth is indeed a handsome man (obligatory no homo) Or, in this example, just embrace being Elaine and get roles as Elaine and be successful with it! Yeah, poor Vinny. I think there's hope in the next season of Mad Men for some redemption, but even just his look is so extreme. I spent the whole play looking at his hair, trying to figure out if he was wearing a piece or if perhaps they did something to make his hairline appear worse on Mad Men than it really is. Have you seen the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants? Her roles have always been very charming, the role on Mad Men was a HUGE leap for her. The exact opposite as what I am struggling with here - she normally is a super good girl, so I struggled buying it. I read an article that he was apparently living like a bum when they met and she's raised him up to appreciate the nice things he could have considering his success. We saw the play during previews, although not opening night, but I looked around the audience for her |

The one that Pete Campbell has those hotel interludes with when she's in town for electro-shock therapy? |

I think the DVDs are out for that season? If so I converted them and brought them with...just haven't had time to watch it yet. |
