Subject: GU2O powder clumping

I just started using GU2O and i always have a problem with it clumping while mixing and having some clumps in my bottle after mixing.

Anyone else have clumping issues?   I have tried putting powder in first and then water and the other way around and it still clumps.

Any suggestions?

No answer, but I'm having the same problem. I'd love to hear the answer.

Yes.  Happens a lot to me as well.

I only use regular bottles so I will put the scoops in first, then as I add the water I will continuously swish it around.  Then shake it up well after the bottle is full.  That usually mixes it all up completely.  In the few instances where it doesn't, once it is on the bike and I'm riding the bouncing around pretty much always finishes the job.

If I recall, on the side of the canister, it says something like:

Fill bottle half-full with water; add your scoops (I use 2 in my bottles); put the lid on and shake the bottle (with it half-full); open the lid, fill up the bottle; shake again.  All done.

That method has worked for me since the start of the year...

That's what I've been doing as well. Didn't know that's how it was written but I have always mixed powder stuff like that. Seems to work best.

 X2

make sure the bottle is dry, put the powder in and then swish as you fill with water.  If you have any moisture in the bottle as you add poweder, it will clump.

I put the powder in and then put a few ounces of hot water in.  Then I put the cap on and shake.  It usually dissolves most of it and then I add in the rest of the water.

I do exactly the same thing and it works well.  I try to make the bottle the night before and keep it in the fridge or add ice after adding the hot water and dissolving the powder

I have read on their website that the powder was no meant to be mixed in cold water. The powder was meant to be mixed in lukewarm water. I usually fill the bottle halfway with water, put the powder in and shake it, and then finish filling the bottle. That usually works for me.

It's already been covered, but just seconding it - use room temperature water. It's a bit of a pain, but it's fairly effective at mixing up the powder. Fill up halfway with room temp water, dump powder in, shake it up till dissolved, and then throw in cold water with ice. I try and make the stuff in advance so I can throw it in the freezer to cool down and preserve some of the ice.

Pretty much the only downside to GU2O. Love the stuff

What fgump said.

And FWIW, I think Accelerade powder clumps worse than GU2O.

I like the stuff so much, I just mix five gallon batches and dispense it out my kegerator.

No, not really, but I do make one gallon batches and keep it in the fridge.  When I mix it, I put the powder in first, then add a couple cups of hot water.  Swirl it around, then top it off with cold.  I also give it a couple shakes before I pour it into bottle.  It settles a bit.

After saying that I keg it, I might actually try it carbonated.

I use a single serving blender...one quick spin and in the bottle it goes...

Amen ... Accelerade clumps ridiculously - that is why I only use it for Tequila Friday hangovers now. (Mila's homespun recipe - and it works!)

I add a scoop of CarboPro (240 cal) in with my Gu2O (2.25 scoops per 20 oz bottle) and tap water.  The only time I have had a clumping problem is when I do not shake it immediately.

Just started using GU20 and by chance I mixed the night before, no clumping. I'll try the room temp next time I don't mix the night before. Thanks for the suggestions.
