I thought that I would throw this one out since I see a lot of people are already looking at the HIM in Augusta and since a few of us are planning on doing this one.  It is in Greensboro, GA which is about halfway to Augusta on I-20 and is about two weeks before the Augusta HIM.  The host hotel is the Ritz Carlton at Reynolds Plantation although there are a lot of less expensive hotels nearby and it is close enough to Atlanta to drive there the morning of the race.

This one is definitely on my radar. Depends on if we are doing SC again next year - have to check with the race scheduling committee.  If no SC, definitely this one.  Lake Oconee is beautiful.

Steph and I are doing this one, Augusta, or SC.  I can't decide which one!  Does anybody know how much this one costs?  Augusta is $225. which is a bit steep.

IMO, the 70.3 branded races are not totally worth the extra you might pay.  I've only done one 70.3, and 2 non-branded races and the 2 non-branded were almost better.  I can't totally say they were better hands down, but lots of aspects were better(expo, cheaper, organization).  That said, I do think each and every 70.3 IS probably run differently and by different race directors...so the one I've done might just have had a few bad turn of events this year.

In the end, doing a 70.3 brand HIM is a good experience, but many of the other local/southeastern HIM's are top notch too.  Just my 2 cents!

Hey Neal - The website says 9.12.10  - Is this race scheduled for next September, or September 2010?

If I survive SC this year and still want to do another HIM Greenwood or Amelia would be my choices.

They must have fixed the website. It now says Sept. 12, 2009. Lake Oconee's like right down the road - maybe 45 min. at the most. SWEET. I'm all over this one! Or Augusta. Hmm, choices...

Ditto what Courtney said.

Part of the wetsite says 9/12/10 then another part says 9/19/9. I'll either do this one or SCHIM. I'm sure Ninja would rather stay at the Ritz.

I'm planning on this one. I'll be sad if they opt to wait for 2010 to do it. I know some of the peeps organizing this so I'll try to get a firm yes or no from them on it's happening in 09.

IF I do a HIM next year, I will do this one.  I am hoping they move forward so I have the option.  By the way, BIG if on going a HIM.

I just got an email from them today.  They are going to postpone the race until Sept. 12, of 2010 which is too bad because I really wanted to do this one.

That sucks! This race would have made it on my 2009 schedule.

Why did they postpone?  Because the Augusta race trumped them on announcing and now not enough racers for all?

Rats.  Maybe 2010, then.  It will be 2010, a Lake Oconee odyssey.
