I have the Profile Design Aerobottle and of course, I use the $1 store poof instead of the yellow thing, but now, here's my problem. The rubber bands break and I rode a century last weekend where the bottle came flying out 4 times just with the velcro which obviously didn't hold. I am not interested in spending the money for the replacement kit just for rubber bands. Any ideas?

They sell a separate kit to hold the bottle.

Or use the rubberbands your mail deliverer gives you.

I actually used my daughter's hair ties. I have no idea what they are called, but they were stretchy cloth things that kept my bottle pretty tight after my rubber bands snapped. They were also washer proof so I could keep them clean.

1. The Velcro - I safety pin together. So when I wash the bottle, the bracket comes with. No more wrestling with the velcro looping it through the bracket in the early hours of race morning. Its locked and loaded.

2. They do sell rubber bands in a replacement kit. But just get them from a hardware store

Ditch it, use frame and behind the seat cages/bottles ..........

The only thing to me that is good about the aero bottle is that on courses where I start in a wave further back that I know where the big bumps in the road are since I can see all the damn little poofs where everyone knocked them out on a bump and can adjust my position accordingly to avoid getting my teeth knocked out.

I have the bracket that holds it on with velcro and ties- it doesn't move.  Now if I can only get the straws to stay put!

Any thick, long rubber band will work (try Office Depot), or cut up an old (car/truck) inner tube.

I have tried:

1. More rubber bands from Profile Design
2. Hair things my girls use that are about 10 inches in the shape of a circle
3. The bracket they sell

What I use...electic tape. I tape that sucker on and it stays put. Every race more tape. I tape my power tap computer on too as that has popped off. I put extra eletric tape in my sn bag along with a cheap pair of sissors. I tape my gels on my top tube behind my bento box.

When the rubber bands on my aerobottle started falling apart this summer I replaced them with some plastic zip ties. Worked like a charm.

I have the bracket, btw, but how do you use the zip ties? Just curious. It was a pain in the butt stopping and picking that sucker up. I finally threw it in my jersey while everyone passed me and laughed.

I use plain old rubberbands.  The kind that come around asparagus work well for me.

Ahh, I have a set of aerobars that are too close to use the bracket. I just placed the zip ties in the same place the rubber bands normally went--under on the left, over the top on the right, and opposite for the other one.

X2 What KathyG said!

I use the velcro mount PLUS a ton of electrical tape to secure the bottle. Doesn't move! I lost my sponge on the first bump in my first triathlon, so I took a cheap tupperware top, cut it to size and electrical taped it over the opening (after filling it with liquid first). This approach only works in shorter races, since you can't refill the bottle that easily. No liquid escapes.
