I can't help wondering what portion of the 99% are out there standing in line to save money on the latest big screen TV. I heard a guy on the TV say something along the lines of (oh yeah he is in line on MONDAY) "you know it is fun, kind of a tradition, and the amount I lose from working I almost make up by the amount I am saving".

Why don't the zombies get it.

What are they supposed to "get"? If someone wants to wait to buy something they want to purchase, then why do they need to be ridiculed for it?

Just my take.

My brother used to do it for fun.

He is definitely not a zombie. He's one of the kindest, coolest smartest guys I know....

Kate, I kind of agree with you and BigDH to some extent.

What I understood him "mini ranting" about was someone standing in line for that long to save less money on the TV (or whatever) that he missed out on had he just worked for 3 or 4 days....

As Mr. Spock would say "Captain, it's not logical"

Happy Holidays ta all ya all

Ahh.. true.. I missed the (Since Monday thingy).. Sorry DH.

My brother didn't do that.. lol. If he'd have stood at Best Buy for 5 days waiting to buy a tv I'd prolly call him an idiot to his face..

you can't have your cake and eat it too.

You can't "like" all those very depressing I am the 99% videos or posters on facebook and then take a week off work to get the latest deal.

you can't complain about walmart screwing their employees and then line up outside to swarm a store for the latest phone.

or you can, if you are a zombie.

it seems it is no longer life liberty and the pursuit of happiness so much as life liberty and the pursuit of discounted depreciable assets.

I certainly find my time far more valuable doing what I do versus waiting in line to save a few bucks.  However, I have no desire to judge or impose what other people do with their time and money.  That's kind of the cool thing about America, we get to do what we want with our time and money.  Even if somebody's on government assistance they still get to pick where they spend their money within the guidelines of the program.

So, I'm a little confused by the outrage.  If you don't like it then it's simple, don't go shopping the day after Turkey day.

I am confused as why people don't get that today they are feeding the very machine that they joined with their fellows to fight against back in the summer time or whenever that 99 percent thing came out. Perhaps I am generalizing too much. Clearly not all 99 percenters are black friday shoppers. Perhaps it is even a very small percentage. I guess I assume it is a large percentage.

I am with BigDH on this one.  I don't get it.  I know for some it really is a fun, family event and I shouldn't judge but, well...I do judge.  I struggle with those camping out a week ahead of time rather than working or (for the unemployed) looking for a job.  They complain that they have to get in line for the 'deals' because they can't afford regular prices.  However, (while NOT working), they bring their brand-name tents and giant flat-screen TVs (bought on credit since they're "poor"?) to use while they sit around for a week and wait.  The story doesn't really add up in my mind.

Well,  Most of those stand in line all week people prolly don't think past what they might be doing for lunch tomorrow. Squatting at a Best Buy?..yeah..

I think you're confusing Occupy Wall Street with "the 99%".

Hey at least they're saving money.  Some people stand in line at the Apple store so they can pay full price

I think the problem is that you're trying to apply logic to anything the occupy movement people do. Or maybe, they really just dig camping in the concrete jungle, for whatever reason!

Agreed.  I always got a kick out of the Occupiers who would tweet incessantly about corporate greed and post Instagram photos of the "movement" with their brand new Apple iPhone.

I spent the afternoon of Black Friday in the hospitality room at the Anheuser-Busch brewery tour...  sampling all their beverages...

Not sure if that makes me the 99%, the 1%, or the 0.000001% that would rather get paid in free beer to take a free tour.

Kind of like those railing against government subsidy/entitlement programs all the while their hand is out getting SS, Medicaid, etc?

Just a sec, I need to simultaneously Tweet/Instgram/FB Post/BT log this on my iphone and ipad mini, all while being oppressed by the man and/or the 1%.
