I cannot figure out how to keep ipod earbuds in while running. have tried it all. Would buy over-the-ear headphones or something but I have the ipod shuffle(3rd gen) that requires the controls on the earbuds or you cannot listen to the ipod, so options are limited.  Anyone have any breakthroughs in earbud technology they'd care to share? Right now I am using packing tap over my ear to keep them on....so ya I'm ready for a change

I don't the volume control model but they do make a version with volume control and a mic.

I don't know if they have a model with the controls but also take a look at snugg buds.

x2 on the yurbuds.  I spent a ton of money on different options that did not work before the yurbuds.

I bought some yurbuds covers that I put over my existing buds. They worked really well for a few months. Then they started to fall out occasionally or when I would try and remove them, the bud would come out but the cover would stay in my ear. About six months later on a flight home, I opened my MP3 player case and  I noticed that one of the covers was gone. I have no idea where or when it got lost. I contacted the yurbuds folks about it, because they say "guaranteed not to fall out", but the warranty is only 90 days. If you buy the actual yurbuds buds instead of the covers, you might be fine. I live in an arid climate, which might have caused them to lose their "stickyness". Anyhow, I was disenchanted with the company and decided to do a little googling for competitive products and found these:

http://www.amazon.com/Philips-ActionFit-SHQ1000-28-Headphones/dp/B004477D00

They have worked well for me so far (5 months). I have seen both Philips and the yurbuds at Target. The Philips cord is kind of long, but it has a clip so it's not too bad.

I use the Bose IE2 ear buds and they work great and are very comfortable.

I use the skull candy buds.. and have for a few years.. They never fall out and are less than $20 bucks with really decent sound.  These are the only earbuds that have ever worked for me.

I would skip the buds and find something that wraps around your neck.  I have a pair of Philips ActionFit headphones and I think they rock.  Sennheiser also makes a few.

Another vote for the yurbuds.  Buy the Ironman ones (I believe they're around $50) - been using them for around 2 years, and never had an issue.  They come with a couple of replacement covers, which I usually just replace every few months whenever the other covers stretch out.  Honestly it's probably in my top 3 or 4 tri/marathon purchases I've ever made.

That's precisely why I use a super  light weight headset,  I love my Sony MDR-AS35W 's, unfortunately the dog got them last week and they have been replaced by newer model that I don't like as well. I have tried ton's of earbud just never managed to find one that worked for me  and that sounds great, must have a wierd ear shape.

but I got lucky and found a surplus store in town that had a bunch of new stock at 14.99 a pair so I bought 3 more pairs so now I have some for a rainy day when I originally bought them they were $49 each so $15 bucks was a bargin in my book. I had been using the pair the dog chewed for 3+ years with no problems at all.

I had exactly the same problem. Annoyed the hell out of me about a year ago when there were no cheap (small bud) earphone options <$150) that I could buy for this stupidly designed 3rd gen! I bought a $20 Scosche tapstick from Amazon, which slips over the ishuffle and lets me use any headphones I want. The control switches to the tapstick case but that doesn't bother me. Best $20 I ever spent.

I remember having this problem, then I found a pair I really liked, then I decided I hate having my player with me. I feel faster without it, lol.

Another vote for Ironman Yurbuds with the controls on the wires. They do NOT fall out.

YurBuds.  I found some IM ones at target on clearance for $8 ($40 at Best Buy).  I have gone over my bars on my mountain bike and they never budged.

I have yet to find any ear buds that will stay in my ear.  Thankfully I don't need any volume controls on the wire and use Nike Vapor (over the ear).  have worked well for me.  Also have a set of polk audio over the ear headphones but the wire is a little heavy and flops around when running.

I had the same problem too. Went with a set that has a little piece that goes over the ear and it works great.

I too have this issue, but usually wrap one wire under my bra strap to keep the wires from bouncing. I'll try the yurbuds, thanks for the recommendation.

I can't either. I bought the kind that wrap around your ear. they work pretty well. There are a lot of different types of these.

The Sennheiser ones are also very sweat resistant. Every other earphone I've tried gets shorted out in no time.
