Subject: RE: Thanksgiving to New Years Running Challengek, fine, running or walking or hiking.
BUT, it is running or walking or hiking for the purpose of exercise. And it is continuous and appropriate to your fitness level.
My thoughts are, for the challenge, you know what you are capable of. If all you are capable of is hiking or walking then that is fine. If you are a 3-5k a day runner then walking 1 mile 2-3 times a week may very well be appropriate for you for this challenge. If you are 5-10k runner then maybe you should go by the spirit of it and actually run a mile every day. If you are a 5-10k runner and you are doing strenuous hiking for 1-2 hours on a day then, yeah, maybe that is good. If you are a 5-10k runner and you walk a mile to the bus stop then, um, no you aren't getting a passing grade.
So for you Bill, I think you are pushing it with 6 straight days of hiking without running, but if it suitably taxing then I'll give you a pass. If it isn't suitably taxing on one day then you should go and get that 10 minute run in.
