We played this last year and it was fun and I want to hang out with people who run too much so lets play again.

Keep less jiggle in the middle this holiday season and pledge to run at least 1 mile a day from November 22 to December 31.

There is a spread sheet to help with daily accountability.

k, fine, running or walking or hiking.

BUT, it is running or walking or hiking for the purpose of exercise. And it is continuous and appropriate to your fitness level.

My thoughts are, for the challenge, you know what you are capable of. If all you are capable of is hiking or walking then that is fine. If you are a 3-5k a day runner then walking 1 mile 2-3 times a week may very well be appropriate for you for this challenge. If you are 5-10k runner then maybe you should go by the spirit of it and actually run a mile every day. If you are a 5-10k runner and you are doing strenuous hiking for 1-2 hours on a day then, yeah, maybe that is good. If you are a 5-10k runner and you walk a mile to the bus stop then, um, no you aren't getting a passing grade.

So for you Bill, I think you are pushing it with 6 straight days of hiking without running, but if it suitably taxing then I'll give you a pass. If it isn't suitably taxing on one day then you should go and get that 10 minute run in.

I'll play, I'll play!  Although someone will have to point me to the spreadsheet--I'm a bit of a techno-dunce.  The only thing is, well, gee...some of my runs between Dec. 25-Dec. 31 will have to be on the beaches of Oahu, Hawaii.  Drat....

I'm in. I loved doing this last year. I made it almost to the end . . . up until I got sick and could barely move. This year, I'm hoping for good health to make it all the way.

Thanksgiving is 2 days away - is everyone ramping up or tapering for the challenge?

I will probably take tomorrow off and then just go!  If I don't rest it would end up being 4 extra days since I started Sunday not that I would worry about that many extra days!

Looking forward to the challenge and getting to eat as much Turkey as I can since the challenge is where I will drop the pounds!

I am so excited! I am ramping up. I'm coming off a busy race schedule, so I am ready to put in some consistent short/medium runs with no time goals. Just some fun, easy running.

Is it averaging a mile per day or running every day?  I'm doing a half marathon plan, so it would work if the average distance is the plan.

I am ready to go Bill. Haven't had a day off in over a week and just going to plow on right through to the end of the year!

You know... what the heck.  I'll play.  I'm going to have to count some of the stair climbing I do at work for my mileage on some days, though... about every 3 days, I work a 24 hour shift (called a duty day) that keeps me from any running, but I usually walk about 2 or 3 miles plus walk up/down about 12 flights of stairs in that time frame.  I'm almost constantly in motion on my duty days, so I feel the intent will be met.  Aside from that, I promise a good 2+ miles every day.

I guess not...I clicked on the link and this came up:

You need permission to access this item. You are signed in as [email protected], but you don't have permission to access this item.

Little help?
