It's sad that you can watch 2 hours of BL in about 30 minutes.

Sigh....   let's hope they don't do 1hr 15mins of comercials and 45mins of show.

What makes you think they would do otherwise?  I refuse to watch it anymore becuase they seem to think I cannot recall what JUST happened before the commercial and have to replay it back.

Even if you Tivo it they still have so much filler crap it's just about unwatchable...

...and Dear Lord... enough with the scale drama and music... just step on, get a weight and step off... geeze..

My wife always complains about the "Lord of the Rings" music used during weigh-ins.   I personnally think that it's quite humourous.

You just brought about my death if any of the contestants this season say "precious" or "one ring" during the weigh in.

I always enjoy watching BL and I think they've cleaned up their act a little after getting caught fudging marathon results, etc.  At the end of last season, they actually even spent a little time on nutrition, albeit still too little.  I did like hearing Bob admonish his team for not eating enough food when they were allowed to control their own diet for a day.  I was thinking the same thing right before he said it and I think it was a good message to send to the public (you can't starve yourself thin).

I hope they stop making exercise look like torture, though.  I think the show could benefit more people if they made the information surrounding the workouts promote the "achieve-ability" and fun aspects of exercise, rather than focusing on people puking and being sent to the hospital as a result of working hard.

All that being said, I'll definitely watch.

This show is hard to watch. They keep bringing in larger and larger people for ratings. Within the time frame of the show the amount of weight loss they achieve is unhealthy and unmaintainable. I do not like the game playing that goes on. Last season's "winner" was smoking and binge drinking at the first chance she got, as well as throwing her daughter under the bus. The show has gone down hill each season and to me provides little to no positive encouragement. That being said, I root for Dan as he is a young man from Raleigh, NC!

On the flip side, I like that they show them working hard for their results.  Too many people are looking for the quick fix, the magic pill, or new fad gadget to make them thin.  Advertisements for the latest and greatest that promise flat abs in 10 minutes a day or rapid weightloss with no effort are every where.  People need to know that getting into shape is going to take some work on thier part - diet and exercise.

Now what I think would be cool is a "control" group.  This group would stay at home and keep thier jobs.  They would get a personal trainer and a nutritionist that would provide them training and meal plans.  This would be a great way to show people that anyone can do it, given the right motivation.  They would be eligible for either prize, the biggest loser or 'at home' winner.  I bet this group would have the best long term success.

I still enjoy the show, despite all of the commercialism and game drama that goes on.  I usually record it and skip the ads, then get motivated to hit the gym.  Yes, they showed last years winner smoking and drinking the first chance she had, but at least people can see that if you get off your butt and eat right anyone can lose weight.  I don't care for all of the drama that goes on, but the network is not stupid -- it is still entertainment to lots of folks.

I like the commercials.  They give me regularly timed intervals to run to the kitchen for more ice cream and cookies.  I love watching people working hard to lose weight and diet while I pig out.

It would be even better if they could see you pig out. That would be funny.

Even if you don't watch the commercials... you can't miss the advertising that goes on during the show!

who knew that wrigley's gum and ziploc bags were essential to losing weight ?

To me the contestant and trainer reactions are priceless, reactions when the trainers see who got sent home, who won the challenges, when someone doesn't want to work out!

I like to watch the weigh in reaction just before a commercial break and after they come back, those of us that Tivo know that they are different reactions from the same weigh in, whats up with that, one is like a teaser reaction before a commercial, then the real thing when they come back.

The ultimate reaction is when someone has gained weight, I cant seem to stop laughing when that happens, a complete denial on the contestants response!

trishie:

Their in-show advertising must not be working on you. It's Extra Gum! LOL!

I did enjoy Bob going nuclear on that contestant aht wouldn't give it her all! Now that's entertainment!

I record BL and watch it while working out.  I'm curious to see how Dan has been doing.  How much weight has he lost on his own?  Will his weight loss help or hinder him?  I'm not surprised they brought him back - a lot of viewers wanted to see his progress and were disappointed when he got sent home.  My prediction is he'll be wise enough to add some water weight before the first weigh-in, so that he'll get a good drop the first week.  And if he's been working out regularly, he'll be at an advantage over the other contestants, both in the challenges and possibly also with the weight loss.

When does it star?  I looked last night on my DVR for next week and no luck.

As a side note, when does all the fall season shows start, more or less?

BL is always entertaining to watch. Not sure if I will watch this season though but we will see...

I hope Dan has some success and at least has a better chance to be there for a longer time. Someone also mentioned having a "control group" at home and they did that several seasons ago with the BL America edition. Everyone who did not get chosen to be on the ranch had help working out at home from 24 hour fitness. Not sure about the nutritionist but some of those at home people had great results as well.

I have to say though the replays of Bob exploding last season just had me laughing for a long time every time I watched it.
