I coudn't have said it better myself. Although I found a thorn tree on the course and sat down and popped my blister with it. It was the only sharp think I could find.

Congrats,

Way to go guys!!!  I was there spectating - and support crew - what a difference in weather!  I was there last year too and it was just so miserable!  I had a lot of fun cheering people on as I was able to stay dry out there!

Hope you're enjoying some much needed recovery time!

Also awesome to see Craig Alexander rip it up out there - holy cow!!

This is my first post and I had 10 friends enter and all 10 finished. 8 of these it was there first half ironman. I have never done a tri but am thinking that if they can do it why not me. Does anyone have any other halfs near ontario that would maybe be a good first one for me. Thanks

Beautiful course, great organization, but those hills killed me. My swim and bike were similar to last year but my legs were toast by the time I got to the run this year.

Blev I would suggest Steelhead for an easier 70.3 that is close to Ontario.

Blev - Muskoka is a tough course so it may take a while loger to train for it. Slightly easier races of the same distance are the Canadian Iron 113 in Ottawa (Somersault Triathlon series) or the Demi-Esprit in Montreal. These are not 'Ironman' brand-name races, but they are asme distance, just as prestegious and cheaper.

The Montreal race takes place in the olympic rowing basin (smooth water and always close to shore) and the bike on the F1 car racing track (smooth and mostly flat)

I absolutely agree with you that you too can do a half-iron. Long distance triathlons are 10% physical - the rest is mental.... you just have to be mental enough....

My first HIM was this years Muskoka 70.3 . What a great event. You would be hard preswsed to find a better organized event Couldn't have asked for better weather. I could have asked for a much better time. Like most others found it very hilly. My legs were done by the end of the bike and it took me to about the 5/6 K mark on the run to get them back under me. Thinking of doing it again next year.

During the run, I told myself there was no way I was going to come back and do this course again.  Within a couple of days I started to think about how I can improve and go faster next year.  I'll be back to tackle this next year - just need my leg to heal since I injured it during the run (think it was those hills).

The bike and run courses kicked my butt... I have a plan to get revenge on the those hills next year. It starts with actually training properly. I think that will help a lot.
