Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Anyone else have a sleep number bed? I am getting on tonight for free, and I was just curious as to your thoughts? How hard are they to set up?
Thank you, Tyler |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I only know that in the commercials, the female always seems to like a higher number than the male partner. Do women like harder beds then men? never gave it much though before. |

![]() | ![]() I bought one last summer and I love it. LOVE IT. I'd recommend going into the store to get your personalized Sleep Number as a starting point, rather than guessing. It's free to do that. They have a computerized bed that will show your pressure points as it adjusts - when they find the sweet spot they tell you that number. As for set up - no idea. The professionals who delivered mine set it all up. The thing I love about it is that the firmness is adjustable - forever. With traditional beds you are stuck with the firmness you choose - and also stuck with decreasing comfort as it breaks down over time. |

![]() | ![]() For those of you who slept on one in a hotel - how did you know what number to set it at? Seems odd to label it as the "worst bed ever" if it was not set to your personal comfort level. Of course you're going to be uncomfortable if you sleep on a bed that your body does not agree with. Edited by lisac957 2012-07-24 1:39 PM |

New user![]() ![]() | ![]() Best money I ever spent on a bed! Set-up is a breeze. If you run into problems, youtube has video instructions that are even model specific. The beds can be a bit pricey, but worth every penny! So, with yours being free, it's an ever better value! Someone said to stop into the store and determine your individual sleep number...excellent suggestion! Good luck....you may be in for the best nights sleep you've had in a long time! |

I slept on one for 3 nights last week in a Hilton, and....tried different numbers each night and....couldn't tell much of a difference, comfort wise. No matter what number I chose, I slept well enough. It wasn't bad, by any stretch, but it also wasn't like getting in a bed at the 'W' hotel. |

OK technically it was 2 nights. I tried several settings over a period of the 2 nights. Could not get comfortable with any of them. Then I awoke to find the bed had deflated one night. When you then inflate them it's LOUD. Not a fan... |

For others' reference, Sleep Number makes these suggestions when finding your number outside of the store. Seems you need 3 or 4 nights at each increment for your body to adjust. Lie on your Sleep Number® bed in your favorite sleeping position and adjust your pillow to your liking. Using your remote, change your Sleep Number® setting to 100 (firmest), and then down to 20 (very soft). Now, set your Sleep Number® setting back to 100. As the mattress gets firmer, how do your neck, shoulders, hips and back feel? When you feel comfortably supported, stop. Make adjustments up or down, by no more than 5. Try sleeping at this setting for the night. The next morning, if you need to make an adjustment, change your number by no more than 5. Use this setting for at least 3 or 4 nights. |

I agree. Raddison has them in their rooms. I tried a few settings and liked 55 eventually. But I'm unsure if ALL beds in every location work out to the same degree of firmness at that number (Is 55 always 55?) I'm ambivolent. Not convinced it's the greatest ever, but don't hate it either. Now then, get me one of those Westin mattresses and I'm a happy guy! Edited by pitt83 2012-07-24 3:04 PM |

IMHO if something is not comfortable the first night all you are doing by waiting 90 nights is training your body to learn to accept something that's uncomfortable. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I love mine. We have the one with the memory foam on top of the air pockets (We didn't really care for the traditional style). If you do decide to buy there's a referral program so maybe put me down? (Amber Gates) What I like the best is that we'll never have the problem where you wear an indent pattern into the mattress. My husband was starting to have backaches that went away when we changed to the Sleep Number. Maybe any new mattress would've helped, but I do think it is high quality. |

I have the same model with the memory foam. It was crazy expensive, but I really like it. It got rave reviews as well from my last girlfriend who is very particular about her sleep environment. |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() InnerAthlete - 2012-07-24 4:42 PM I am heading to the Sleep Number store now. My current mattress is a few months shy of 5 years old and has a big indentation in it. I've been waking up with a stiff back for a while now, and back pain for a few months. I have to sleep with a pillow under my legs to avoid the back pain (I sleep on my back). I am drawn to an air mattress because it will not develop an indentation over time. It seems many people have that issue these days -- mattresses don't last like they used to. I also like that I am not committing to a specified level of firmness when I walk out the door. I love mine. We have the one with the memory foam on top of the air pockets (We didn't really care for the traditional style). If you do decide to buy there's a referral program so maybe put me down? Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I can't believe they would put those in hotels, it's such a personal thing to try and customize. I think I'd be mad if I found one in my room, honestly. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I LOVE it. I get the best sleep ever. My husband is not so much of a fan but he puts up with it. He gets frequent backaches no matter what number he chooses. Then there's the fact that my number is ridiculously low (25-35) and I get up first, so he rolls downward into my "hole" as he puts it! We got the bed because we will never agree on a mattress otherwise. He likes to sleep on concrete. I want to sleep on a marshmallow. |
