My man, Kido, said it well on another thread.....but I wanted to see if we could take it a step further.

Can we freeze, or stop posting, about guns - gun rights - 2A - Semi Autos, etc.

The best thing that we can do right now is to be extra nice to each other, offer a compliment, hug a kid (preferably yours or one you know....)

I have a 6.5 year old that I dropped off at school today and watched her walk in very happy that she was going. I knew she was safe as she walked in the door, hugged her friend and another teacher, and pulled her rolling backpack through the door........these parents in CT, did the same thing only some of them will never get to do that again.

No matter where you stand on the gun debate.....can we give it a rest today?

I was actually thinking the same thing.

Now's not the time.

Love the idea but people are too indignant about their politics to shut up for 24 hours.

I'm done with it. No one is going to sway anyone to their side anyway. It's a constant spouting of dogma with no point.

I am sorry to hear about the children and adults that lost their lives today and the families that will not see their loved ones again.

Count me in.

I simply don't have words for this situation... doesn't happen often, but I'm totally at a loss for words right now.

Hug and kiss your kids extra tonight.  Don't mean to offend, but God bless.

I believe in action more than silence. Here's your CoJ to do list:

-pray, if that's your thing

-educate yourself about mental health issues we face in this country

-donate your time or money to a charity that supports mental health, grieving families, etc.

-remind those you love that you love them

-encourage your loved ones to have an open, respectful discussion on mental disorders. if someone can learn that someone else in their life will love them and support them despite mental illness, it can encourage them to seek help and opens up the possibility of events like this happening less often

-stop watching the news and visiting news sites reporting on this. limit your clicks and TV time.

I send my daughter off to school every day happy in the knowledge she's in safe hands. She's getting extra cuddles today for sure.

My eldest and youngest sons walked in a few minutes ago - they met my arms fully embraced around them. I have to get my 2nd son later since he's at a friend's house.A giant *HUG* goes out to you, BT.

Just wanted to share this with all of you~

"And in despair I bowed my head,
There is no peace on earth,
I said for hate is strong, and mocks the song,
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

Then peeled the bells more loud and deep,
God is not dead, nor doth He sleep,
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men."
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
