Who would have thought? 25 years have gone by since his tragic death. Everytime I hear the song "Imagine" I think what a icon he was - fantastic songwriter, peace activist,.....

Any other fav Lennon songs, solo or Beatles?

I loved that free-thinking, radical, paradoxical, complex hippie!

Imagine - my favorite. Give Peace A Chance, too.

Favorite song: "A Day in the Life" Perfect example of the Lennon-McCartney yin and yang.

Favorite album: The Beatles (White Album).

Somewhat amazed that I have heard three times today the Howard Cosell announcement of Lennon's shooting and death. I guess there were millions of us that heard the news while watching Monday Night Football. Strange to say, it gave me chills to hear it again.

Ran past the Dakota Tuesday. Kept thinking, what a waste. He had so much more to offer.

I think that it would be a little eerie going by the Dakota knowing this was 'the' spot. You're right - it was a waste yet his message is still alive and well.

How about the Ballad of John and Yoko, Starting Over, Instant Karma

It was eerie. I pass it everytime I run in park. But there has been so much focus on this sad anniversary that it's definately different right now.

Mine too. My dad passed away 3 days after John Lennon. After the church service when the family got into the limo to go to the cemetary for the internment, this song played on the radio as soon as we closed the door.

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don’t know why nobody told you how to unfold your love
I don’t know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you.

I look at the world and I notice it’s turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don’t know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don’t know how you were inverted
No one alerted you.

I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all...
Still my guitar gently weeps.

It can be interpreted either way. To be clear, he should have said "Any fav. Lennon songs: solo or Beatles?"

Don't get me started on comma usage...

Feeble try at covering your ass. It's a John Lennon thread. Learn how to read, learn who wrote what song.
