Subject: Site flaking out?

I'm trying to figure out if this is my imagination or not (or possibly just that my laptop is on the verge of death):

Is anyone else noticing that the BT pages can be really slow to load up lately?  I'm on Firefox 3, and it spends a lot of time "waiting on beginnertriathlete.com".

It's only been in the past week or so, and mainly during the day - things tend to fly when I am on the site at night.

Mainly, I'm just curious as to what it is, or if my laptop just really blows.

It happens once in a while for me too.  I just figured it was my work internet connection.  I was locked out for what seemed like 10 minutes.  Came back and inquied in a thread, and no one else had the problem.  Seems to be hit and miss....

it happened a TON last night and this morning for me..

i figured it was my horrible internet connection..

Happened to me throughout the day today and yesterday.  Saving this weekend's mapped runs and rides either took a very long time or did not happen at all and the elevation tool was not available.

Yea, I'm getting the same kind of behavior, both at work and at home (IE and Firefox).  Not always slow, just periodic slow-downs in performance.

I have a test for you all to do.

When a page seems to drag and load forever, X out of all of your browsers and then reload your browser, go to BT and see if that makes it fast again or still slow.

I noticed the slowness/failure to load yesterday & this morning too - closing all my browsers and reloading seems to make it work fine.

I've been doing that anyway when it got really slow (like minutes loading), and seems to improve.   Although a couple times it improved on the first loading, then when I tried to switch from logs to, say forums, it got slow again

Hasn't been too slow in the last couple days tho

I have had the same problems, both at work and at home, and this does fix it

FYI, it did not fix the problem for me; in fact, when I closed browser, re-opened, and tried to go to my log, got a 500 error.  It is seemingly intermittent, though.

I hate to admit that it is happening to me as well.  I have switched from IE to Firefox and have tried the closing out of windows.  It seems to happen more when switching from my training log to forums.

This fix works for me too it seems.  It kind of sucks to close everything and reload, but that still takes less time than waiting for the site to reload without doing it.

lara, last time I checked, a message stays in out box until opened.  I could be wrong, but I thinkg that is the case.

I saw a 500 error a few days ago too, but no problems since mike's post

Hi Mike it was still very slow this morning when I went from the home page to my training log and then back to the forum new threads link. I tried to close IE and it froze up on me.  When I opened IE again, I deleted my temporary internet files which seemed to help a bit but when I switch to "show my threads" it still bogs down but not as bad as it had been.

Still slow for me. I always go from my training log to the forums, as someone indicated above. Maybe I'll stop that.Closeout did not work.Interesting that part of the page loads instantly (even with me opening dozens of posts at a time)... but then it just seems to stall. The title of the thread on the IE bar, and the blue background... but then nothing. The screen below lasted for 4 minutes before the post came up (and a whole bunch of others at the same time). Normally this takes less than 2 secons for me even when opening up multiple windows.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3097/2737748633_8cc318b33d_o.jpgSame thing happens when posting a reply - most of the page shows up, but the toolbar icons don't show up for several minutes.(this post was typed and entered before they all showed up... hence no picture (just a link) and no formatting (there were 6 hard returns when I typed this).

For people that the site is still repeatedly slow, try this:

https://www.opendns.com/start

I had issues these on my computer with a cable provider and this cleared it up.  Don't ask me how or why, but it worked.

Let me know.

Also, if you all can report if you have used the BT route tracker (creating a route) when this stuff happens?

Funny you should say - I was updating the elevations on some of my routes yesterday and it was taking 4EVER...  May not be related.  But about 10 minutes to do a task that my home computer did a few days earlier in about 2 minutes.

ALSO - had an error loading a workout last night.  I emailed support and send a tcs (or something like that - it's the exported garmin file from Training Center)

The Get/Update Elevation stuff is what was changed. Try it now, I think you'll be pleased.

Can anybody chime-in as to whether this has improved since Mike last fix to routes?
