Subject: This Weekend Sometime...

So as not to totally scare the h--- out of everyone here is the rundown:

  1. Major site redesign...it will not even resemble the current one in the least.  It is a fixed width 800 pixel wide design which is totally unlike our current 100% page width resizeable site.  I went with fixed width as it gives me a lot more flexibility for the design.  So set your screen resolutions to 800pixels (ok) Or 1024+ pixels (best!)  I hope you like it...It took me 1 week of vacation to decide on it and another 2 months to hack it up with our functionality...its pretty sweet!!!!
  2. Training Logs - FOR Bronze, Silver and Gold Performance Members:
    1. Weather Feed - We will have a current and 5 day forecast with details and icons inputed at the top of your traning blog...all you should have to do is select a zipcode and viola!  It will feature 500 US (i think) cities AND 100 International cities.  This should make planning your training a lot easier...or it should give you some heads-up.  This costs me a monthly fee....hence for Performance Members.  We will add more International cities once we evaluate the demand for it this year.
    2. Transfer Training Plans to Logs.
      1. Silver Members - You will have the option to transfer ANY of the free plans on the site DIRECTLY into your 'Planned training' log.
      2. Gold Members - You will hav access to a growing database of proprietary BT Intermediate and Advanced plans (1 year+ of base training).  We will have a 12 week Intermediate Sprint, a 26 Week (7 Race series) Intermediate Sprint AND 12 week Intermediate Oly, a 26 Week (7 Race series) Intermediate Oly.  WE may have another 2 more also.  These plans will be transferrable to your 'Planned Training' log ANYTIME...ANY PLAN with a few quick keystrokes. (as long as you keep your membership)  We WILL NOT offer a 'print only' version of these.  Of course, you can transfer them to you logs and print out the calendar monthly veiws, reports and weekly blog descriptions.  These plans will be setup similiarly like the 1/2 IM plan with workout details and weekly descriptions.
      3. Create your own plans - For Bronze, Silver and Gold.  This will give you the ability to input plans into your personal plan database.  Wether you get them from another source or something a coach made for you, you can input them into your private database and input them into your 'planned training' ANYTIME.  This will eliminate the need to constantly input a plan day-by-day into the normal 'planned training edit screen'.  You can use these plans year after year in your BT log.
    3. Online Coaching - We have it programmed but are still working on the details with a contractor for this service.  You will be able to sign up for a 'Platinum' membership in 3 month blocks for online coaching where you get customized weekly plans delivered to your 'planned training' log, coaches will blog your workouts, limited or unlimited communication with coach and other stuff.  This may still be a few weeks till we get the details hashed out.  Mind though, this will be for a premium price in-line with what many personal coaches charge...BT will just interface a reputable coach with your log here.
    4. BT Blogger (free for all) - a new page for all the training bloggers here...it will replace the '10 most recent log updates' at the bottom of the forum.  It will be a lot better with lots of more stuff.
    5. Beginner Ironman Plan...it will be here in early march in the next few weeks.  IT WILL BE FREE for all and you will have the ability to transfer it to your logs if your a silver or gold member.  Many people have asked so that is the answer.
    6. Miscellaneous bugs...we will have all of the non-critical bugs of the training logs fixed too that I listed in that forum.

Ovetta (Infosteward) and myself would be happy to address any concerns you may have regarding BT and the new stuff.  I hope you like my frankness...I would like to be transparent as a site developer...especially since we are migrating to a free and paid platform of services.  I dont want to be pulling any 'fast ones' over ya...but the reality of a site getting 250-300 new registered members a week, 2million page veiws monthly, close to 2000 log updates daily, a ton of email with training questions or general administration is a lot of time and money spent on resources...wow!  its hard to keep up!

OHHHHH!!!!  Major props to 'marmadaddy'...he did a lot of data entry of the free training plans for which I would never have had the time to do...he also did  a lot of bug testing of the online coaching and transfer a plan to log features.  He actually found something worse then "following the black line in the pool"

The next two weeks will not be totally bug-free.  Per usual, users find a lot more bugs then a few people testing in a few weeks.  Patience during the next few weeks as we will work hard to resolve any issues.

Just to ad to Ron's post. Many of you may have noticed that we have increased our content and article offerings. Thanks to Ron's prodding and my perpetual need for staying busy we are now publishing twice a month. Now that we have a staple of writers we hope to offer even better articles for you in the future. We also hope to compile these articles into usable manuals for you as well. We now have a regular cycling writer, a USAT-certified coach, the best sports nutritionist in the world, a weightloss expert, physicians and many more. So check out the home page every two weeks and you're guaranteed to get a lot of information. We hope to expand B.T.com offerings to that you won't have to go anywhere else to get all the triathlon stuff you need. Watch for more stuff in the future.

As always e-mail me if you want to talk about content or see something that you'd like us to cover. Ron and I are working hard to make this the best online community period, tri or otherwise but we want to stay true to our heart - you all. Please know you can talk to either one of us anytime if you have questions or concerns.

Ron has worked really hard on the new site. It's been driving him crazy making sure things work. Support him and show him some love.

The only thing that's constant is change but we aim to make change for the better. For you. So you can tri!

Ovetta.

Looking forward to the new design...although I've just gotten used to the current set-up with my blog and all. One of the other forums I frequent went through a re-design about 6 months ago and there were some growing pains...people just didn't like change. I'm sure it will be an improvement...thanks for all the hard work!

Ron-

Did you by chance see the thread I posted last week about some suggestions for the forums?
