Okay, last one for the day.  Here in Illinois we have some high schools with some "interesting" nicknames, what is the worst school nickname you have heard. 

Cobden -- Appleknockers

Fisher -- Bunnies

Hopeston -- Cornjerkers

Biggsville -- Lady Yanks

Also in Utah are the  Beaver high School Beavers.   That's right, the Beaver Beavers.    My high school was the Rams, so when we would play the Beavers we got to yell "Let's Ram the Beavers!"

Exactly.

I find it humorous that teams with names like COMETS, the girls times have to be the LADY COMETS (etc.)   If going to a girls sports events, one would expect that ladies are playing.

In Bemidji Minnesota they also are nicknamed the Beavers. Unfortunately they are in the same conferance as Moorehead. So of course most other colleges have homecoming floats that say "We licked the Beavers, now we want Moorehead".

My hometown has two high schools. I went to Westwood High, home of the Patriots; nothing exciting there. But the other school was Ishpeming High School, home of the Hematites. Seriously. A mascot and an iron ore, all in one. That's life on the iron range!

Other clever mascots from my homeland (Upper Peninsula of Michigan):

Kingsford Flivvers (apparently this is a car)
Watersmeet Nimrods (of the ESPN commercial fame)
Gwinn Model Towners (what the...?)
Houghton Gremlins

The school I'm getting my master's at is Friends University - FU. Heh.

My undergrad alma matter mascot: The Shockers. As in wheat shockers (historical reference from the first students of the university), but of course the college kids took it dirty (never me, no no) and reference the sexual act via the hand signal and think it's funny.

Shockers?  I believe that's Wichita State.  (Too many NCAA Men's Basketball Tournaments)

My college roomate went to high school at Roxanna HS, home of the...

Shells.  That's right, shells.  'course the Shell Oil Corp. donated mucho money to the school, so it could be seen as "sponsorship."
