There was a thread in tri talk with that title and I was wondering what y'all wanna do before you hit the bucket?

I want to live my whole life glorifying an amazing God; become an Army Sapper; finish sub 9hr in an IM; finish top 20 in Kona. Go backpacking in Peru and New Zealand. Learn how to surf. Go deep sea diving. Play piano and violin (well!). Find a wife. More to be added but those are the big ones.

Move to the beach and be able to support myself riding & or painting (or playing cards again). Preferably all three.

haha, half of a lot of things.
I'm great at starting paintings, terrible at finishing them.

Acrylic only! Hate Watercolors and Oils, while acceptable, are a bit too much work Maybe someday.

BTW...you are a young guy and have a lot of experiences ahead of you. I admire that you put God first. Something tells me you'll have no problem knocking out your bucket list.

Watercolors are the best! I like doing the washes though the most haha I've got like three washes just sitting in a cabinet on stretched paper, so I'm worse off than you about finishing a started paint project x)

And rayd, I hope everything works out for you.. it can't be a good spot right now if that's the first on the list.

I'm a dreamer with little money, even less common sense, and a big bucket list.

*Climb Kilimanjaro before the snows all melt

*Snowman Trek in Bhutan (supposed to be the most difficult trek in the world)

*Visit Sri Lanka, hike in Patagonia, safari in Africa

*Do some kind of epic long-distance bike ride without getting injured/killed

*Finish an Ironman, preferably Kona. Actually anything in Hawaii but maybe that's the only option? I would really like to do the original Ironman on Oahu, even if just DIY. Failing Hawaii, Challenge Wanaka. (I'd only want to do a race that long if the venue was truly stunning!)

*Be healthy enough (injury-wise) to run an ultra or two (50 km to 50 miles, pref. trail run, must have stunning scenery and not be at night).

*Live in plenty of interesting places and meet interesting people

*Be able to retire someday, preferably in Hawaii

*Marriage or long-term relationship with the right person. About to give up on kids due to age..

*Be able to give back to communities/people I care a lot about. I'd love to work with an NGO in a Himalayan country; also foster cats and help at-risk kids.

*Break the world record in the mile. (Caveat--age record. My goal is to try to live long enough to break it, even if I die at the end and I'm 102. Preferably at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Secretly, it's my favorite event, though it's never been my best!)

Realistically, keep myself housed, fed, and employed and stay in some kind of shape.

is it really a bucket list if it changes?  cause it does, often.  i also tend to be pretty short-term-focused so nothing is so crazy out of reach...

-get a doctorate in something (seriously not sure what, probably industrial engineering or operations research but just really want people to have to call me dr.)
-travel to every continent (only S America and Africa to go)
-run chicago marathon (registered for this fall!)
-work for myself
-be a more consistently great wife and dog-mommy and friend and sister and aunt

Great thread. This is something that I have often thought about and probably will change every year but as of right now here it is:

1.) Finish IM Mont Tremblant in 2014

2.) Retire from my job healthy

3.) After retirement (I'll be 48), Work for myself doing something health/fitness related

4.) Buy a beach house and or move to the beach full time (depends on wife/kids)

5.) Travel to the following places: Australia, Europe, 3-4 week road trip across the USA

6.) Volunteer or Race at Kona (most likely volunteer) and make a vacation out of it

7.) Go to the Super Bowl!

8.) Skydive

9.) Do a destination Marathon (thinking about Reykjavik in Iceland or Athens, Greece)

10.) Cage dive with Great White Sharks!

I just want to have life figured out and feel settled...although I imagine that never happens

I want to live in a place that makes me happy, buy a house. Work at a job that makes me happy and not completely miserable, preferably for myself, but any place I don't dread going to. Live comfortably enough that I can help those in need.

Travel lots. See more of the US. Stay in touch with friends.

As for exercise bucket list:

I just completed my first half marathon this past week so that is crossed off! Wooo!

THen we have: HIM (may), marathon maybe one day, get my 5k time faster

I'm almost 60 and have been blessed to have had a good life so far and I've gotten to do a lot of neat things.  Other stuff yet to go:

  • Attend a Wimbeldon final.
  • Monaco Grand Prix.
  • Spend a few weeks traveling randomly through England and Scotland staying at B&B's along the way.
  • Play a round of golf on the Old Course at St. Andrews.
  • Attend the Masters at Augusta National.
  • Take an Alaskan cruise.
  • Visit Rome.
  • Finish the model of the USS Constitution that I've been working on for the past five years.
  • Set up a charitable foundation to support low-income housing and educational opportunities.
