It looks like everybody just has to have the name "man" in the name of an lM or long distance triathlon and I understand the reasoning but I just think some of them are kindof funny (Pumpkinman, Vineman, Eagleman, etc.). Can you think of any funny one's? Here are some to get you started:

* Wolfman - Jax, FL.
* International Halfman, Halfwoman 70.3
* Littleman - midget only sprint
* Mailman - all participants must wear wool shorts and tall compression socks
* ManfredMan RocknRoll Half
* PeckerMan - Petaluma's Egg Capital of World Olympic Distance Triathlon
* IsleofMan SMR (Swim Motorcycle Run) Triathlon

Ut-oh, feeling like a mild hypoglycemia setting in. Time to go to lunch...

Are we talking names of REAL races? And do they have to have "man" in the title? I did a sprint that, on the production org's website was just called the Bath County Triathlon, but down where the race actually was, it was called "Moomaw Madness" - t-shirt even says it. The swim was held in Lake Moomaw, which is a funny name to begin with.

Races, either real or imagined. Not necessary to have "man" in the title but to me that makes it funnier.

PekingMan - Old school race in Beijing where you get a time bonus for old bike or for racing in a ape costume.

Not with "man" in the name, but a couple funny omes around here are named afterr the festivals with which they are loosely associated, including:

Meat Pie Tri - yes, up in Nachitoches, LA they celebrate Meat Pies.

Yam City Triathlon- again, they celebrate yams in Opelousas. Funniest thing about this is the race director insists on putting an illustration of a SBR yam on the T-shirt. After several years of doing this race, I am convinced that no one can draw a yam without it looking like a big ol' pile of carp. Here's an example of last year's swimming, biking and running poo:

From the website

Easyman  140.6

Set at PR for the 140.6 distance.

Enjoy a wet suit legal 2.4 mile swim all with a steady current. After the first flat 10 miles on the bike, the next 97 are all downhill, and your legs will be ready for the fastest 26.2 mile route around.  When you add in the person volunteer assigned to you for your day, and a separate finishers chute allowing any one and any number of people to cross the line with you, then we go a step farther and allow you to cross it multiple times until you get the finishers photo that is perfect.  Come see why the Easyman is the Best kept secret of all 140.6 events

My first tri was the 5th Annual Catfish Triathlon/Duathlon, held in Harrisburg, PA, sponsored by Tricatsports. The swim is in the Susquehanna River, but I don't know if there is catfish in there or not. If the name isn't unusal enough, the logo is realy odd...

I.just.want.to.know.what.a.BOLO.is.man - After you finish the race, a cop taser's you and lays and nasty beatdown on you. If anyone gets this one or thinks it is even remotely funny, then I applaud you.

I just did my first Oly last month and it was the "Elephant Man" Triathlon.

But it did take place in the city of Elephant Butte, NM, and the swim was in Elephant Butte Lake so I suppose it makes sense.

......and yes, it is Elephant Butte......with an "e"......without an "e" would just be nasty.

So the name of this race isn't funny, its the New England Season Opener, held at the very beginning of May in Massachusetts.  What's funny is the website:  neopenerrace , which is just one letter displaced away from Neoprene Race.    Which it is.....f*@#ing cold!!!!!

Not a tri but real bike stage race...Porky's Gulch.

It is an TT up mount Washington, a crit in a closed amusement park Storyland, and a cyclocross race.

I had planned on doing it but decided not to and my husband is disappointed as he thinks the race name is funny and says it all the time.

MKC - 2008-10-23 11:40 AM Isn't there a MulletMan??

There is - it was my first tri ever.  It is held at the Florabama Lounge, which straddles the border of Florida and Alabama.  Though the name Mulletman conjures an image of a poorly designed haircut - ala "joe Dirt", that is not what the name is about.

The Mullet is a fish, sometimes called "Cajun Bacon" and the Florabama, which is a drinking establishment, has several contests based about them, including a Mullet Toss and The MulletMan.  Tis a blast.

Check it our here.

Ok, the Time Trial up Mount Washington must be timed with a calendar.  What is a crit?  Is Storyland Really closed, or is it just post season?

I think that a ride across the Kangamangus Highway, followed with Bear Wrestling at Clarks trading post would make a nice duathlon.

Crit is a race you do loops on a course in a peleton...yep Storyland is closed for the season and only racers or officials get to go into the park for the race no spectators.

Need a good name for that Du
