Subject: RE: Orillia Triathlon I've done it every year for the past 5 years, and will be there again this year. The swim in the lake is usually pretty clam, although has been a little choppy on occasion, but it's a nice beach start, and sighting shouldn't be too much of an issue - although out to the bouys is into the sun for the first 2-300M of the swim.
Bike - mix of good and bad roads. There is a small hill straight out of transition, then onto some bumpy roads. Next section is good roads out into the country, then there are a couple of really bad road sections with some small, short climbs, and a long descent onto the flats which last for about 5-8km. Then you climb the only real hill on the course, but it's only about 30sec - 1min, followed by a false flat, and then downhill into some rollers that are a net incline as you head back in (but these hurt the legs a touch ). One small flat section, then back onto the bumpy roads for the last couple of km.
Run - pretty flat, with only one tiny bump to go up and down. Fully exposed to the sun for the whole run. Running back into the park where they have transition is a slight downhill which is nice and you come back to the crowds. |
