Drug Test - need help

Extreme Veteran  361   Dallas, TX (Valley Ranch area) |  Subject: Drug Test - need helpHow am I going to pass my drug test?!!! I have accepted a new postion, and I am required to take a drug test before starting. The good news is that I am crystal clean. The bad news is that the company requires a hair sample from either my head, chest, under arms or legs. Being in the middle of race season, I am shaved smooth from head to toe ... except for "down-under", which they will not accept. Does anyone know how much hair is needed for an adequate sample? I have stopped shaving, but it is not like hair grows over night. I have also explained my situation to the company and asked to substitute with a drug test via urine, saliva, blood, sweat, or fingernails. Unfortunately, they require a hair folicle test unless there are medical reasons that prevent it. |

I got all of that ... toe hair, nose hair, ear hair, etc. Unfortunately, the test specifically requires hair from one of five regions: head, chest, legs, under arms or legs. |

You may try and convince them to give you a "probationary period" to grow the hair out. My only other thought is do you have either upper thigh hair left, or perhaps way lower chest hair, maybe between the bellybutton and your waistline? |

I went back into the doctor this morning to try to convince the nurse to clip hair from the "lower chest", but she said that she could only clip from particular regions. However, she did shave some short hair from my underarms (which I only trim before races). Hopefully that sample will suffice. I never would have thought that a lack of body hair could become an issue in the workplace. |

I had a few random hairs around my underarms that were long. The nurse clipped those but said that the sample still might not be enough.  |
