 Kodiak, Alaska |  Subject: Do men like scars on women?As a result of chaffing I have a couple of cuts that eventually turned into scars...A friend informed me that men only like scars on themselves...so I am taking an informal poll...no on the fence--a simple yes or no...(but, I'd like to hear opinions about your answer...) |

I don't like scars on anyone per se, but then again I really want the girls I go out with to be active and do lots of sport, and if you do lots of sport of any kind you're going to get bumps & bashes that leave their mark long term. So while I don't like scars, I'm more attracted to a fit, athletic girl with some "warwounds" than an unfit lazy gril with skin from a Maybelene comercial. The same goes for my scars - I've got marks on my hands, arms, chest and legs from climbing & cycling, and I'd rather not have them, but not enough for me to want to stop climbing & cycling and everything else I do. If you've got a huge, poorly healed scar running from your right jawbone to your left temple, that's probably not a very positive thing, but if you're talking about a few minor scars on the legs or arms, no big deal. In fact, I'm surprised that more women don't have tons of shaving-scars (since the bodybuilding contest I did, I have a profound respect for you women shaving for us guys!) Men do tend to equate scars with 'war-wounds', but I see it more as a sign of aggressive action on the training/playing field... |

What I dislike are piercings .... ugh .... it makes me cringe, but then again, I dislike that on both men and women! Tattoos are also a turnoff for me. I don't mind the odd little heart or whatever tattoo but some of these "Property of Hells Angels" type of body markings are very unappealing. |

Funny thing... about a month ago at a family gathering, my grandmother came up to me, and without preamble stated (loudly, for everyone at the party to hear), "No man will ever want to marry you with all those scars you have!" (I've got some fun ones on my legs from softball, and a matching set on my arm from breaking it two years ago) My poor grandmother spends a lot of her time worrying about who's going to take care of me when I'm old because I'm not married yet... has blamed it on everything from my lack of domestic skills to my obstinancy... and now she's found a new (perfectly logical -- to her) reason for my un-marriedness. Now I'll just have to point her at this thread and tell here that there are at least FOUR guys (as of the voting thus far) who don't mind scars on a woman.  I'm sure that'll put her mind at ease. |

Scars often evoke compassion in me for the pain involved, which softens my heart toward the person. Just like every other feature of the body, scars are part of who we are. And they usually have some great stories that go along with them! |

She had her obligatory fall the first day and got a HUGE bruise on her behind. I find myself more attracted to her now because of that bruise. It's a sign that she's willing to grow with me; not just grow old with me. |

Scars are just nature's tattoos. All of my 'tattoos' are all-natural. Speakin of beat up knees, I have been laughing for 2 weeks at the clipless pedal falling stories and thought my time was past. Had a bad fall Sunday on an inclined parking lot. I will have another scar! Scars on a woman means she probably is acquainted with pain and how to deal with it. A lady who does not "wilt under pressure" so to speak. Scars are sexy especially if she has a good story to go with it! Fred |
