I know it doesn't start for almost a month...but I stumbled across an article about the cast!  And I wanted to start talking about it!

They announce the three returning players...the ones who were medivac'ed in episode 6...Skupin, Russell, and Penner!

Half the cast is the typical worthless cast...big racks, stupid idiots, bartender, crazy people...but among other interesting facts...there is a $ex therapist.  Not kidding.

Check out the article and call your favorite to win!

I'm going with the track coach.

Here's the cast.

Can't wait can't wait can't wait!

Here's the CNN article...talks about some of what is and is not returning this season.

I'm sad...would have been a good season for me...there's lots of water challenges apparently!  Bummer!

Look like it should be a fun season! While they do have the big racks (thank you) I don't remember there being this many women over 30 in the past shows.

I am dying to see how Blair (Lisa Welchel) does!  She doesn't look very fit, so if she weren't an actress she'd be out in round 1 or 2 (or as soon as her team loses).  But, she might be able to play the crowd a little.   I bet they call her Blair.

I need to read up on the rest...

Jeff Kent, really? Blech.

Seemed like a jerk millionaire player on the field, and now he gets a chance to make money being a jerk off of it.

Not real big on his being cast.

Seems like every season now they have a "was a millionaire athlete/wife but have to hide it from the other players" player.

Not a big fan of bringing in celebs.

Ya... who cares... their celebrity status adds nothing. The biggest so far to me was Jimmy Johnson... I mean I don't care how nice he is or how much he does not need the money... you do not let a guy like that hang around. So right off the bat you have to get rid of those types because they have a draw from others.

Monica Cullpepper last season was cool though. I didn't care who her husband was.. totally irrelevant.... but she was a really tough competitor.

Oh, just read the cbs cast bits.  I like Denise more now (she's the pizza therapist).  She has a really good point...therapists generally speaking can be quite perceptive about what makes people tick and why they do the things they do...and they are REALLY good at listening.  Anyway, I think being a therapist HAS to be a huge asset on the show.  I think she has a really good shot if she can make it past the first few votes.

Personally I think the first few votes are a crapshoot.  I don't necessarily think the first few people out always "stink" at the game.  Sometimes I think they just have some bad luck.  After the first 3-4 people then it starts becoming more skill...IMHO. :D

And...Malcom is an idiot.  He wants to play like Russell?  And thinks they give you an oversized check at the end?  Has he ever WATCHED the show?  The check is an actual real sized check that they present...idiots...

More reasons they should have picked me!  I must apply again!

I am a fan of a lot of the older players, just based on what I think will be their ability.  The problem is as  you get older you have an innate uninterest in caring what others think of you, and you tend to run at the mouth (myself included!!!) so it can backfire.   This is my long way of saying that I agree, the pizza therapist seems really promising.  But, can she play the game?

True, but a therapist needs to be liked by patients...so I think she probably knows how to get along with a wide variety of people.  Like her interview says...she needs to be able to relate on some level to anyone that walks into her office.

Powerful tool right there....

couldn't agree more with you.

On your other notes though, being liked is easy.... be (or pretend to be) interested in what the other person has to say.  Talk about them. As far as I know it's what therapists do all day long and twice on tuesday.

So yes I thin k she has an advantage.

While in a game like this, if I were there i wouldn't give a hang what they were worth, I kind of agree, but on Welchel, I think she's probably enough of a "has been" for it not to matter.  Otherwise, I think they get booted off early enough not to REALLY effect the outcome.

As a P.S. I REALLY liked Jimmy.  Was kinda rooting for him.

Blair from FOL was my favorite.  Typically you hide that kind of fame because people assume you are rolling in the cash but IIRC she is a born again Christian so playing the deceit game probably isn't her style.  Hope she does well.  I'd love to see Tootie out there next season.

Jonathan Penner was one of my favorites.  He got a bad deal with his knee when evacuated but it was pretty bad. Very good talker.

I didn't really like Russell Swan in his first season.  Something about that guy just rubbed me the wrong way.  Not sure what it was.  I guess we'll see again.  Hope he stays healthy this time.  You never want to see anyone go out on a medical... except Colton.

So glad Colton isn't there this season.  It would be a very different game this time with him I think.  He had a very "go with the flow" bunch last time and you don't always have that from season to season.  Look at Russell Hantz on this third try everybody know his game and got rid of him quick and he cried like a little girl.

Katie from NJ is smokin' hot that's all I can really say.

I doubt it, first pizza therapist though. :D

I was just saying that being a therapist has to give you a social/strategic advantage.  She's used to reading people.

You still have to make the right alliance, know when to make the big move, win a few immuntiies, etc.

She has a better chance than a pure "strength" player who is depending on winning immunities, IMHO.

And her profession has more crossover to a show like survivor than say...an actress? :D

break break

I am old enough to at least remember the FOL, but never really watched it.  So I think if you're much younger than me (33), it may be a non-event.  Some of these kids probably won't even KNOW there was a show called FOL.  Many of them are in their 20's!  It will be interesting to see if she just up and fesses her profession or tries to hide it.

The thing is though, it only takes ONE person to recognize her and then everyone will know...whether they saw the show or not! :D

I just know I probably would NOT have recognized her (or the baseball player!) if I hadn't been told!
